Augmented bifactor models and bifactor-(S-1) models are identical. A comment on Zhang, Luo, Zhang, Sun & Zhang (2023)

open access: yesStructural Equation Modeling: A Multidisciplinary Journal
In a recent study, Zhang, Luo, Zhang, Sun, and Zhang (2023) proposed the augmented oblique bifactor model as a new methodological contribution, in which an oblique bifactor model is augmented by one or more indicator(s). Zhang et al. (2023) argued that the augmented oblique bifactor model is superior to existing bifactor modeling approaches.

Psychometric Properties and Longitudinal Predictors of the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C‐SSRS) in a Brazilian Community Cohort: A 15‐Year Follow‐Up Study

open access: yesSuicide and Life-Threatening Behavior, Volume 56, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction The Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C‐SSRS) is widely used for assessing suicidal thoughts and behaviors, yet evidence on the validity of its scoring outputs in community‐based samples from low‐ and middle‐income countries remains scarce. Methods Participants included 2076 young adults (mean age 23.45, 47% female) from the

Exploring the full-information bifactor model in vertical scaling with construct shift [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
To address the lack of attention to construct shift in item response theory (IRT) vertical scaling, a multigroup, bifactor model was proposed to model the common dimension for all grades and the grade-specific dimensions.

Exploring the Full-information Bifactor Model in Vertical Scaling with Construct Shift [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
To address the lack of attention to construct shift in IRT vertical scaling, a bifactor model is proposed to estimate the common dimension for all grades and the grade-specific dimensions.
