Antimicrobial Susceptibility of Bifidobacteria

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 1993
The antimicrobial susceptibility of 37 strains of bifidobacteria to 18 antimicrobial agents was determined by a macrodilution broth method. Most of the strains used were isolated from commercial yogurts and starters. Tested organisms were usually sensitive to Gram-positive spectrum antibiotics (bacitracin, erythromycin, lincomycin, and vancomycin), and

Analysis of newly detected tetracycline resistance genes and their flanking sequences in human intestinal bifidobacteria

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Due to tetracycline abuse, the safe bifidobacteria in the human gastrointestinal intestinal tract (GIT) may serve as a reservoir of tetracycline resistance genes.

Intestinal microbiome alterations in pediatric epilepsy: Implications for seizures and therapeutic approaches

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract The intestinal microbiome plays a pivotal role in maintaining host health through its involvement in gastrointestinal, immune, and central nervous system (CNS) functions. Recent evidence underscores the bidirectional communication between the microbiota, the gut, and the brain and the impact of this axis on neurological diseases, including ...

Research Progress in the Action Mechanism of bifidobacteria in Alleviating Ulcerative Colitis [PDF]

open access: yesShipin Kexue
Ulcerative colitis is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease, and its incidence is increasing year by year in China. Current drug treatments have side effects, so the use of probiotics to regulate intestinal microbiota is emerging as an intervention method.

Exploring the Ecology of Bifidobacteria and Their Genetic Adaptation to the Mammalian Gut

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2020
The mammalian gut is densely inhabited by microorganisms that have coevolved with their host. Amongst these latter microorganisms, bifidobacteria represent a key model to study host–microbe interaction within the mammalian gut. Remarkably, bifidobacteria
