The Fractional Form of the Tinkerbell Map Is Chaotic

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2018
This paper is concerned with a fractional Caputo-difference form of the well-known Tinkerbell chaotic map. The dynamics of the proposed map are investigated numerically through phase plots, bifurcation diagrams, and Lyapunov exponents considered from ...

Active search for bifurcations

open access: yesChaos: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Nonlinear Science
Bifurcations mark qualitative changes of long-term behavior in dynamical systems and can often signal sudden (“hard”) transitions or catastrophic events (divergences). Accurately locating them is critical not just for deeper understanding of observed dynamic behavior, but also for designing efficient interventions.

Mixing‐Driven Defects and Composition Evolution in Multi‐Material Metal Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Operando synchrotron X‐ray imaging coupled with high‐fidelity multiphysics modeling uncovers how inter‐material mixing reshapes keyhole dynamics and drives distinct pore‐formation pathways in multi‐material laser powder bed fusion (LPBF). Composition‐dependent instabilities trigger defects, whereas rescanning suppresses porosity and homogenizes Cu ...

Phenomenological Study of Backward Bifurcation in Epidemiological Models.

open access: yes, 2005
This thesis is about the phenomenological study of bifurcations in epidemiologicalmodels, in particular, in backward bifurcation. We consider models that exhibit such bifurcation and also consider the factors that cause them.

Stability and cycles in a cobweb model with heterogeneous expectations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We investigate the dynamics of a cobweb model with heterogeneous beliefs, generalizing the example of Brock and Hommes (1997). We examine situations where the agents form expectations by using either rational expectations, or a type of adaptive ...

Global dynamics of a modified hybrid Van der Pol-Rayleigh oscillator II

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations
In this article, we study a modified hybrid Van der Pol-Rayleigh oscillator. We consider bifurcation diagrams and global phase portraits in the Poincare disc under some restrictions on the parameters.

Research on Displacement Mode and Path Tracking Method of Square Combined Deployable Mechanism

open access: yesXibei Gongye Daxue Xuebao, 2019
The motion path of the developable mechanism can not only grasp whether the mechanism can move according to the expected law, but also provide theoretical support for motion control.

TRIM: Simultaneous Thermometry, Ranging, and Imaging via a Monolithic Metalens

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT While metasurfaces offer a pathway beyond the discrete architectures of conventional LWIR systems, physically fusing high‐precision thermometry and passive ranging onto a single metalens remains a formidable challenge. Here, we demonstrate a monolithic, dual‐focus metalens capable of simultaneous multidimensional sensing.

A Diseased Three-Species Harvesting Food Web Model with Various Response Functions

open access: yesBiology and Life Sciences Forum
The purpose of this work is to present a three-species harvesting food web model that takes into account the interactions of susceptible prey, infected prey, and predator species. Prey species are assumed to expand logistically in the absence of predator

Beyond Electrostatics: Anion‐π+ Orbital Hybridization Underpins High‐Performance Chloride Storage in Poly(arylamine) Organic Cathodes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The fundamental nature of anion storage in p‐type organic cathodes is elucidated using rigid poly(arylamine) frameworks. This study reveals a hybrid covalent‐ionic mechanism for anion‐π+ interactions, driven by synergistic orbital hybridization and electrostatic attraction.
