Physiological and behavioural thermoregulation in bigeye tuna (Thunnus obesus)
Nature, 1992Tuna are unique among teleost fishes in being thermoconserving. Vascular counter-current heat exchangers maintain body temperatures above ambient water temperature, thereby improving locomotor muscle efficiency, especially at burst speeds and when pursuing prey below the thermocline.

Physiological thermoregulation in bigeye tuna,Thunnus obesus
Environmental Biology of Fishes, 1994Although a growing body of evidence has indicated that tuna can thermoregulate and have body temperatures that are decoupled from immediate changes in ambient temperature, demonstrating the extent and time-course of body temperature changes in tuna moving through their natural environments has proved to be elusive.

Biogenic Amines Formation in Bigeye Tuna Steaks and Whole Skipjack Tuna
Journal of Food Science, 2002ABSTRACT: Putrescine, cadaverine and histamine formation was monitored in fresh and frozen/thawed Bigeye tuna steaks ( Thunnus obesus ) and whole Skipjack ( Katsuwonus pelamis ) stored at room temperature and in ice and to determine ...

Autoxidation of myoglobin from bigeye tuna fish (Thunnus obesus)
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Protein Structure and Molecular Enzymology, 1990Native oxymyoglobin (MbO2) was isolated directly from the skeletal muscle of bigeye tuna (Thunnus obesus) with complete separation from metmyoglobin (metMb) on a CM-cellulose column. It was examined for its stability properties over a wide range of pH values (pH 5-12) in 0.1 M buffer at 25 degrees C.

Monthly Bigeye Tuna Catches Forecasting Using Wavelet Functional Autoregression
2010 Third International Conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining, 2010In this paper, the aim is to apply a functional autoregressive (FAR) model combined with multiscale wavelet analysis for monthly bigeye tuna catches forecasting in the ocean ecosystem of the equatorial Indian ocean. Wavelet technique performs a time-frequency analysis of a time series, which permits to decompose the raw time series into trend and ...

Operational modelling of bigeye tuna ( Thunnus obesus ) spatial dynamics in the Indonesian region
Marine Pollution Bulletin, 2018With INDESO, Indonesia has implemented a system for the monitoring and management of its tuna resources. Despite increasing catch, very few is known about the dynamics and real abundance of tuna species in the Indonesian waters and adjacent oceanic regions.
