Impact of baseline alanine aminotransferase levels on the efficacy of dapagliflozin and sitagliptin: Latent class analysis from the DIVERSITY‐CVR study

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 27, Issue 9, Page 5099-5107, September 2025.
Abstract Aims Dapagliflozin and sitagliptin exhibit variable efficacy in managing type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), with outcomes influenced by factors like body mass index (BMI). However, biochemical determinants of treatment response remain poorly defined.

Prognostic value of blood lactate levels in predicting cardiac adverse events in patients presenting with drug intoxication

open access: yesHong Kong Journal of Emergency Medicine, Volume 32, Issue 4, August 2025.
Abstract Background Acute drug intoxication (ADI) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality, often leading to complications such as cardiac adverse events (CAEs). Lactate levels are widely used to indicate anaerobic metabolism and hypoperfusion, with known prognostic values in various clinical settings.

open access: yesAlimentary Pharmacology &Therapeutics, Volume 62, Issue 3, Page 319-329, August 2025.
New‐onset DM occurred in 13% of patients with AIH, was related to older age, non‐Caucasian ethnicity, higher prednisolone dose, higher BMI at diagnosis and weight gain and was an independent predictor of all‐cause death/transplantation and of cirrhosis development, underlining the need to minimise steroid burden in AIH.
