Codes Defined By Forms Of Degree 2 On Quadric Surfaces [PDF]
We study the functional codes $C_2(X)$ defined on projective varieties $X$, in the case where $X\subset \mathbb{P}^3$ is a 1-degenerate quadric or a non-degenerate quadric (hyperbolic or elliptic). We find the minimum distance of these codes, the second weight, and the third weight.

Very long O-antigen chains enhance fitness during Salmonella-induced colitis by increasing bile resistance. [PDF]
Intestinal inflammation changes the luminal habitat for microbes through mechanisms that have not been fully resolved. We noticed that the FepE regulator of very long O-antigen chain assembly in the enteric pathogen Salmonella enterica serotype ...

The weight distribution of the functional codes defined by forms of degree 2 on hermitian surfaces [PDF]
We study the functional codes $C_2(X)$ defined on a projective variety $X$, in the case where $X \subset {\mathbb{P}}^3$ is a non-degenerate hermitian surface. We first give some bounds for $# X_{Z(\mathcal{Q})}(\mathbb{F}_{q})$, which are better than the ones known. We compute the number of codewords reaching the second weight.

Pancreas divisum. Correlation between anatomical abnormalities and bile precipitation in the gallbladder in seven patients [PDF]
Pancreas divisum is a genetic defect associated with recurrent acute pancreatitis due to insufficient drainage of the accessory pancreatic duct. Seven young patients diagnosed with pancreatic divisum and thickening of the gallbladder bile as shown on ...

Kinetics of solubilization with Triton X-100 of egg-yolk lecithin bilayers containing cholesterol [PDF]
The titration solubilization of multilamellar egg-yolk lecithin liposomes (MLV-EYL) with Triton X-100 was studied by rectangular optical diffusimetric measurements as a function of cholesterol (Chol) concentration. It was determinated the variation of optic percentage diffu-sion (per mmol surfactant), DDif%/mmol TX-100, in the course of solubilization ...

Biliary complications after liver transplantation: With special reference to the biliary cast syndrome and techniques of secondary duct repair [PDF]
In 93 consecutive cases of orthotopic liver transplantation, there were 24 examples of biliary obstruction and eight of bile fistula formation. Six of the obstructed livers developed biliary cast formation so extensive that the smaller intrahepatic ducts

Decreased expression of breast cancer resistance protein in the duodenum in patients with obstructive cholestasis [PDF]
Background/Aims: The expression of transporters involved in bile acid homeostasis is differentially regulated during obstructive cholestasis. Since the drug efflux transporter breast cancer resistance protein (BCRP) is known to transport bile acids, we ...
