Liver fibrosis is a growing global health burden with no specific treatment. HSC activation is the predominant driver of liver fibrogenesis and the current focus in antifibrotic drug discovery. This study identifies autocrine GDF10 activates BMPR2/ALK3‐SMAD1/5/8‐SMAD7 pathway to counteract the TGF‐β‐SMAD2/3 pathway in HSCs, thereby inhibiting HSC ...

Bile acids. XXXV. Metabolism of 5α-cholestan-3β-ol in the Mongolian gerbil
The principal bile acid of Mongolian gerbil bile is cholic acid, although small amounts of chenodeoxycholic and lesser amounts of deoxycholic acids are identified. Muricholic acids were not found in gerbil bile.

Using the MOSTtechnology and whole‐liver Nissl staining method, a multi‐structural 3D pathological panorama of liver fibrosis is obtained. The damaged sinusoids, steatotic hepatocytes, and collagen deposition are all concentrated in pericentral areas.

Bile acids in the rat: studies in experimental occlusion of the bile duct
Bile acids in the plasma, urine, and small intestine of adult male rats with occluded bile ducts have been studied using a method of high specificity for their determination. After bile duct ligation cholic acid rapidly accumulates in the plasma for 8 hr,

Liquid Crystal-Based Biosensors for the Detection of Bile Acids [PDF]
Bile acids are physiologically important metabolites, which are synthesized in liver as the end products of cholesterol metabolism and then secreted into intestine. They are amphiphilic molecules which play a critical role in the digestion and absorption

CXCL6's function in cholangiocarcinoma is underexplored. Here it is discovered that CXCL6 is upregulated in cholangiocarcinoma tissues and promotes proliferation and metastasis of it. CXCL6 functions through the CXCR1/2‐JAK‐STAT/PI3K axis and reshaping tumor lipid metabolism.

The phospholipid flippase ATP8B1 is required for lysosomal fusion in macrophages
Abstract ATP8B1 is a phospholipid flippase and member of the type 4 subfamily of P‐type ATPases (P4‐ATPase) subfamily. P4‐ATPases catalyze the translocation of phospholipids across biological membranes, ensuring proper membrane asymmetry, which is crucial for membrane protein targeting and activity, vesicle biogenesis, and barrier function.

Calcium binding by bile acids: in vitro studies using a calcium ion electrode.
In this study, we compared in vitro calcium binding by the taurine and glycine conjugates of the major bile acids in human bile: cholic (CA), chenodeoxycholic (CDCA) and deoxycholic (DCA) acids, together with the cholelitholytic bile acids ...
