Active Learning-Based Multistage Sequential Decision-Making Model with Application on Common Bile Duct Stone Evaluation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Multistage sequential decision-making scenarios are commonly seen in the healthcare diagnosis process. In this paper, an active learning-based method is developed to actively collect only the necessary patient data in a sequential manner. There are two novelties in the proposed method.

The Relationship of Anatomic Variation of Pancreatic Ductal System and Pancreaticobiliary Diseases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The aims of this study were to identify the morphological diversities and anatomical variations of pancreatic ductal system and to define the relationships between pancreatic ductal systems, pancreaticobiliary diseases, and procedure-related ...

Spatiotemporal Transcriptomic Profiling Reveals the Dynamic Immunological Landscape of Alveolar Echinococcosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An unprecedented high‐resolution spatial atlas of the E. multilocularis infection foci is obtained, revealing the dynamic functions of neutrophils, Spp1+ macrophages, and fibroblasts during disease progression. The transition of parasite control strategy from “active killing” to “negative segregation” by the host may provide instructive insights into ...

The clinicopathological significance and relapse predictive role of tumor microenvironment of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma after radical surgery

open access: yesCancer, Volume 129, Issue 3, Page 393-404, 1 February 2023., 2023
Abstract Background This study attempts to detect the expression of FoxP3, CD68, CD8α, and PD‐L1 in the tumor microenvironment (TME) of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC), and analyze the relationship between the corresponding cells and clinicopathological characteristics as well as prognosis of ICC.

Letter to the Editor and Comments on: Intravital dynamic and correlative imaging reveals diffusion-dominated canalicular and flow-augmented ductular bile flux [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Bile, the central metabolic product of the liver, is secreted by hepatocytes into bile canaliculi (BC), tubular subcellular structures of 0.5-2 $\mu$m diameter which are formed by the apical membranes of juxtaposed hepatocytes. BC interconnect to build a highly ramified 3D network that collects and transports bile towards larger interlobular bile ducts

Evaluation of Direct Haptic 4D Volume Rendering of Partially Segmented Data for Liver Puncture Simulation [PDF]

open access: yesNature - Scientific Reports, Nature Publishing Group (NPG), 7(671), 2017, 2017
This work presents an evaluation study using a force feedback evaluation framework for a novel direct needle force volume rendering concept in the context of liver puncture simulation. PTC/PTCD puncture interventions targeting the bile ducts have been selected to illustrate this concept.

Functional Polarization of Liver Macrophages by Glyco Gold Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Macrophages play a critical role in several pathophysiological diseases by being involved in the activation of adaptive and innate immune responses. The repolarization of macrophages using gold nanoparticles functionalized with glycans for a more selective targeting toward a restorative phenotype leads to an amelioration of the events.

Bile dynamics within the biliary tract and microfluidic-based bile component detection: A review [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Bilestones are solid masses found in the gallbladder or biliary tract, which block the normal bile flow and eventually result in severe life-threatening complications. Studies have shown that bilestone formation may be related to bile flow dynamics and the concentration level of bile components.
