Cost‐Effectiveness of Laparoscopic Common Bile Duct Exploration Versus Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography in Emergency Stone Management

Among 337 patients undergoing emergency management of common bile duct stones, laparoscopic common bile duct exploration was associated with lower healthcare costs, fewer procedures and shorter hospital stays than ERCP‐based management, supporting single‐stage surgical management as a safe and cost‐effective treatment strategy.

Roux‐en‐Y Reconstruction After Esophagectomy for Postoperative Functional Complaints: A Case Series

Functional complaints affect half of esophagectomy patients, with no standard treatment. In nine patients, Roux‐en‐Y reconstruction for obstruction, redundant conduit, and weight loss was safely performed, with one major complication and no Grade 4 out of five events. Complete symptom resolution reached 67% at 3 months and 89% at 1 year.

Impact of Single Viable Hepatocellular Carcinoma ≤ 3 cm on Survival After Liver Transplantation

An Australian multi‐centre cohort study shows significantly lower 5‐year HCC‐specific mortality for those with no viable disease compared to those with a single viable tumour ≤ 3 cm, on imaging prior to transplantation. A lower AFP level and complete response on mRECIST criteria also reduced risk.

Prenatal imaging phenotypes and outcomes of umbilical‐portal‐systemic venous shunts in singleton and twin pregnancies: A historical cohort study

This retrospective cohort compared umbilical‐portal‐systemic venous shunts in singleton and twin pregnancies. Type III was the most common subtype in singletons, whereas Type II was the most common in twins. Fetal growth restriction was more frequent in twins, but primary structural anomaly rates were similar.
