Swelling of Vulcanized Rubbers in Binary Solvent Mixtures

Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 1965
Abstract The single-liquid approximation has been applied to the data of Bristow on ternary systems containing benzene and cyclohexane with one of the rubbers, natural, SBR, or butyl. Satisfactory fits are obtained with a constant value of the interaction constant between the two solvents χ12 which differs markedly, however, from the value ...

Pursuing Primary Processes of Diphenylcarbene in Binary Solvent Mixtures

International Conference on Ultrafast Phenomena, 2016
An intermediate H-bonded complex formed in MeOH/MeCN solvent mixtures between photogenerated diphenylcarbene and a MeOH molecule is identified, both in theory and experiment. The complex is the ultrafast analog of findings at cryogenic temperatures.

Fickian Ingress of Binary Solvent Mixtures into Glassy Polymer

Macromolecules, 2001
The ingress of miscible mixtures of a good and a bad solvent (methyl ethyl ketone and ethanol) into poly(styrene) has been visualized using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The use of both 2H imaging with selectively deuterated solvents and 13C−1H cyclic cross-polarization (CYCLCROP) chemically selective imaging with normal solvents allows the ...

Solute–solvent and solvent–solvent interactions in binary solvent mixtures. Part 3. The E T (30) polarity of binary mixtures of hydroxylic solvents

J. Chem. Soc., Perkin Trans. 2, 1996
Solvent exchange models have been applied to the transition energy of the Dimroth–Reichardt ET(30) solvatochromic indicator in binary hydroxylic solvents at 25 °C. The models tested have been critically evaluated to show the simplifications and limitations inherent to each model.

Solvation of acetone in protic and aprotic solvents and binary solvent mixtures

Journal of the Chemical Society, Faraday Transactions 1: Physical Chemistry in Condensed Phases, 1985
The infrared spectra of dilute solutions of acetone in a range of protic and aprotic solvents have been measured in the C—O stretch region. Band maxima are shown to correlate linearly with 13C n.m.r. shifts for the carbonyl carbon and, after suitable corrections, with solvent acceptor numbers.

Phase behavior of binary mixture of asphaltene+solvent and ternary mixture of asphaltene+solvent+precipitant

Fluid Phase Equilibria, 2006
Asphaltene precipitation is a perennial problem in producing and refining crude oils. To study asphaltene precipitation, it is useful to model the solubility of asphaltenes in petroleum fluids as a function of temperature and liquid-phase composition. In this work a polymer solution model is used for asphaltene precipitation in two cases.

Solubility of biphenyl in binary solvent mixtures

International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 1984
Abstract Solubilities have been determined at 25°C for biphenyl in binary mixtures of cyclohexane with n-hexane, n-heptane and n-octane, and in binary mixtures of carbon tetrachloride with cyclohexane, n-hexane and n-heptane. The results of these measurements are compared to solution models previously developed. The Nearly Ideal Binary Solvent (NIBS)

Dielectric spectroscopy on binary mixtures of organic solvents

Journal of Molecular Liquids, 1991
Abstract At 25° C the complex (dielectric) permittivity has been measured as a function of frequency between 100 kHz and 40 GHz and of the molar ratio between 0 and 1 for binary mixtures of the following liquids: acetone (CH3(CO)CH3), dimethyl sulfoxide (CH3(SO)CH3), and isopropanol (CH3(HCOH)CH33).

Molecular Interactions in Binary Solvent Mixtures and Catechol in Pure, Binary Solvent Mixtures at 293.15. to 313.15 K with DFT Study

2017
Density of water, methanol, ethanol,1-propanol and water+methanol, water+ethanol, water +1-propanol binary solvent in pure form were experimentally measured. In these same series of solvent catechol was added to make saturated solutions of catechol in water, methanol, ethanol, 1-propanol and their binary mixtures water+methanol, water+ethanol, water+1 ...
