Prevalence of Sagging Eye Syndrome in Adults With Binocular Diplopia [PDF]
Sagging eye syndrome (SES), horizontal and/or vertical strabismus caused by orbital connective tissue degeneration, was first defined 10 years ago. This study investigated SES and other causes of acquired binocular diplopia in adults presenting to a single institution since the description of SES.Retrospective observational case series.Medical records ...

Binocular Fusion, Suppression and Diplopia for Blurred Edges [PDF]
Abstract Purpose (1) To devise a modelābased method for estimating the probabilities of binocular fusion, interocular suppression and diplopia from psychophysical judgements, (2) To map out the way fusion, suppression and diplopia vary with binocular disparity and blur of single edges shown to ...

Binocular Diplopia Associated With Subretinal Neovascular Membranes
JAMA Ophthalmology, 1980A series of patients were seen with binocular diplopia secondary to subretinal neovascular membrane in one eye. The pathophysiology underlying the diplopia is the establishment of rivalry between central and peripheral fusional mechanisms. This diplopia is not relieved by appropriate prism therapy.

Binocular Diplopia in Unilateral Aphakia: The Role of Botulinum Toxin [PDF]
We have treated 12 unilaterally aphakic patients, with a manifest squint and binocular diplopia, with botulinum toxin injection to the appropriate horizontal rectus muscle, in an attempt to reduce the angle of squint and thereby resolve the diplopia. In all cases a short-term reduction in the angle of squint was achieved.

The assessment of a patient with binocular vertical diplopia begins with a thorough history and neuro-ophthalmologic examination. The neuro-ophthalmologic examination includes observation for a compensatory head, face, or chin position; ocular ductions and versions in the nine cardinal positions of gaze; the three-step test; the double Maddox rod test;
