Objective Mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) use in limited cutaneous systemic sclerosis (lcSSc) is relatively uncommon because of the lower fibrotic burden and the predominance of vascular complications. In vitro observations and clinical data from transplanted patients suggest a protective effect of MMF on endothelial function.

Binomial Theorem based on Annamalai's Binomial Identity
This paper presents a binomial theorem and proof based on Annamalai’s binomial identity. The factorial function defined for non-negative integers, denoted by n!, is the product of all positive integers less than or equal to n.

Pooling overdispersed binomial data to estimate event rate
Background The beta-binomial model is one of the methods that can be used to validly combine event rates from overdispersed binomial data. Our objective is to provide a full description of this method and to update and broaden its applications in ...

New Onset of Fibromyalgia After Exposure to a Combat Environment: A Longitudinal Cohort Study
Objective Traumatic life events are hypothesized to be triggers for the onset of fibromyalgia. Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a common comorbidity of fibromyalgia. However, limited prospective data are available on the development of fibromyalgia after exposure to high‐magnitude stress.

The binomial tree consists of a single vertex. The binomial tree is an ordered tree defined recursively. The binomial tree consists of two binomial trees that are linked together: the root of one is the leftmost child of the root of the other.

Immune Checkpoint Inhibitor–Related Myositis and Associated Triad Overlap Syndrome
Objective Immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) myositis is a rare but a highly morbid condition, particularly with the ICI myositis triad syndrome of myositis, myocarditis, and myasthenia gravis. We report the clinical characteristics of ICI myositis and all‐cause mortality in these patients.

Objective We aimed to construct and evaluate the first laboratory‐based frailty index (FI‐Lab) for predicting adverse outcomes in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and to compare its predictive ability to that of an existing clinical FI. Methods We used data from a single‐center prospective cohort of adult patients with SLE whose baseline visit ...

High Health Care Utilization Preceding Diagnosis With Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis
Objective Although early diagnosis improves long‐term outcomes, patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) often experience prolonged, circuitous paths to diagnosis. To inform diagnostic improvement, we sought to characterize health care utilization in the year preceding diagnosis. Methods We identified 10,021 patients with an incident diagnosis

The value of generalized linear mixed models for data analysis in the plant sciences
Modern data analysis typically involves the fitting of a statistical model to data, which includes estimating the model parameters and their precision (standard errors) and testing hypotheses based on the parameter estimates.
