When machines join the moral circle: The persona effect of generative AI agents in collaborative reasoning

open access: yesBritish Journal of Educational Technology, EarlyView.
Abstract Generative AI is increasingly positioned as a peer in collaborative learning, yet its effects on ethical deliberation remain unclear. We report a between‐subjects experiment with university students (N = 217) who discussed an autonomous‐vehicle dilemma in triads under three conditions: human‐only control, supportive AI teammate or contrarian ...

Option Implied Risk-Neutral Distributions and Implied Binomial Trees: A Literature Review [PDF]

open access: yes
In this selective literature review, we start by observing that in efficient markets, there is information incorporated in option prices that might help us to design option pricing models.

Latent Poisson count models for action count data from technology‐enhanced assessments

open access: yesBritish Journal of Mathematical and Statistical Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract Recent advances in computerized assessments have enabled the use of innovative item formats (e.g., drag‐and‐drop, scenario‐based), necessitating a flexible model that can capture systematic influence of item types on action counts. In this study, we present a refinement scheme that can explicitly model common features of items and allows ...

Forest thinning creates short‐term roosting opportunities for northern long‐eared bats in central hardwood forests

open access: yesConservation Science and Practice, EarlyView.
Reconciling timber production with the habitat requirements of forest‐dependent wildlife is a challenge for biodiversity conservation. In managed Central Hardwood Forests of the United States, female northern long‐eared bats (Myotis septentrionalis) selected tree roosts near ridgetops and management features, including recently created regeneration ...

Random operators for modeling time series of counts

open access: yes, 2015
In the thesis the thinning operators used for modeling of time series of counts are studied. The main properties of binomial, generalised, random coefficient, hyper- geometric and generalised binomial thinning operators are listed and proved.

Life‐History Traits and Overwintering of Actia interrupta (Diptera: Tachinidae), a Larval Parasitoid of Choristoneura fumiferana (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae)

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, EarlyView.
Actia interrupta is a larval tachinid parasitoid that plays a key role in regulating low‐density populations of the eastern spruce budworm. We describe its immature stages, life‐history traits, host‐searching behavior, development, and confirm its larviparous reproductive strategy.

On the novel geometric and negative binomial INAR(1) processes [PDF]

open access: yes
Guerrero et al. \cite{GBSO} propose a novel approach to building first-order integer-valued autoregressive (\inar1) models based on the concept of thinning. The standard approach requires that the thinning operator be defined first and \inar1 models with

Biology of the Gall Midge Spanolepis selloanae (Diptera, Cecidomyiidae), a Candidate Biological Control Agent of the Invasive Grass Cortaderia selloana

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, EarlyView.
Spanolepis selloanae (Diptera, Cecidomyiidae) infests Cortaderia selloana (pampas grass). It lays eggs in the spikelets, where larvae feed on female parts. The high prevalence of the midge and its combined impact in seed production, condition and viability strongly reduces the reproductive output of C. selloana.
