Oxygen and ROS Delivery for Infected Wound Healing and Future Prospects
Advanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.Bacterial infection is a major driver of delayed wound healing and postsurgical readmissions; with rising antibiotic resistance, solid peroxide–releasing biomaterials offer sustained delivery of ROS/O2 for antimicrobial control and microenvironmental modulation.Ayden Watt, Chably Rachella, Charlotte Jaloux, Joshua Vorstenbosch, Adam Hart, Michael Tanzer, Geraldine Merle, Jake Barralet +7 morewiley +1 more sourceRefining the accuracy of validated target identification through coding variant fine-mapping in type 2 diabetes. [PDF]
, 2018 We aggregated coding variant data for 81,412 type 2 diabetes cases and 370,832 controls of diverse ancestry, identifying 40 coding variant association signals (P < 2.2 × 10-7); of these, 16 map outside known risk-associated loci. Advanced Science, EarlyView.Women with obesity often deliver large‐for‐gestational‐age (LGA) infants. Single‐nucleus RNA sequencing of term placenta reveals that hypoxia and TNF‐α signaling in syncytiotrophoblasts are featured in maternal obesity, but inflammatory signatures in Hofbauer cells and response to lipid or carbohydrate metabolism in fibroblasts are specific to LGA.Hong Jiang, Emilie Derisoud, Denise Parreira, Nayere Taebnia, Paulo R. Advanced Science, EarlyView.Cinnamic‐hydroxamic‐acid derivatives (CHADs) are identified as novel inhibitors of the bacterial nucleoid‐associated protein HU, exhibiting potent antibacterial, anti‐biofilm (both inhibition and eradication), and DNA relaxation (anti‐supercoiling) activities. Moreover, CHADs demonstrate strong synergistic effects with multiple antibiotics.Huan Chen, Yingqi Xu, Zhaoping Xiong, Hongliang Wang, Xin Wang, Yue Kang, Zhonglin Wang, Xiaoyan Zeng, Yahui Liu, Yehuan Zheng, Wei Chen, Mengzhe Li, Zhenyue Hu, Chi Xu, Yue Wu, Yawen Wang, Zuyi Yuan, Shuai Yuan, Huadong Liu, Steve Matthews, Nan Qiao, Yan Li, Bing Liu +22 morewiley +1 more sourceBiodegradable Carbonate Nanogels Loaded with Anti MFAP‐5 siRNA for Anti‐stromal Therapy of Hepatocellular Carcinoma
Advanced Science, EarlyView.Polycarbonate nanogels enable lipid‐free delivery of anti‐MFAP‐5 siRNA into cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAF) in hepatocellular carcinoma. In a cirrhotic murine model, this approach silences MFAP‐5, reduces fibroblast activation, and suppresses tumor growth by inhibiting NOTCH/Hes1‐driven angiogenesis.
