Polarization phenomena of aortic tissues: influence of biochemical extractions on the protein dynamic

10th International Symposium on Electrets (ISE 10). Proceedings (Cat. No.99 CH36256), 2003
Cardiovascular tissues are complex materials primarily composed of structural proteins: collagen, elastin and glycoproteins. Nowadays, they are widely studied for the understanding of vascular pathologies, such as atherosclerosis, and for the conceiving of durable bioprostheses.

Plasmonic phenomena in metal nanoapertures and chip-scale instrumentation for biochemical sensing

2006 IEEE Nanotechnology Materials and Devices Conference, 2006
Plasmonic interactions in the metallic nanoaperture array allow for rich phenomena, such as concentration and channeling of light in the subwavelength scale structures. We present high-sensitivity surface plasmon resonance spectroscopy based on a metal nanoslit array. Strong confinement of optical fields in the slit region allows sensitive transduction

32 32 pH Image Sensors for Real Time Observation of Biochemical Phenomena

TRANSDUCERS 2007 - 2007 International Solid-State Sensors, Actuators and Microsystems Conference, 2007
32 x 32 pH image sensors were successfully fabricated by using the CCD/CMOS image sensor technique, and real time imaging of a chemical reaction and pH distribution was carried out for the first time. The pH variations by a chemical reaction are observed by 200 ms step (i.e. 5 flames per sec).

Liquid foams: Properties, structures, prevailing phenomena and their applications in chemical/biochemical processes

Advances in Colloid and Interface Science
Liquid foams are gas-liquid dispersions with flexible structures that provide high gas-liquid interfaces. This property nominates liquid foams as excellent gas-liquid contactors, systems that are widely used in the chemical and biochemical industries.

Fast simulation of large networks of nanotechnological and biochemical oscillators for investigating self-organization phenomena

Asia and South Pacific Conference on Design Automation, 2006., 2006
We address the problem of fast and accurate computational analysis of large networks of coupled oscillators arising in nanotechnological and biochemical systems. Such systems are computationally and analytically challenging because of their very large sizes and the complex nonlinear dynamics they exhibit.

Obesity-related complications: few biochemical phenomena with reference to tumorigenesis.

The Malaysian journal of pathology, 2013
Overweight or obesity is currently a common health problem in westernized societies globally. Obesity is linked with a sizeable number of disease aetiologies, notably type-2 diabetes, cardiovascular disorders and certain cancers, perhaps through some common mechanisms that favor persistent low-grade inflammation.

Modeling Non-Linear Dynamic Phenomena in Biochemical Networks [PDF]

open access: possible, 2007
Facilitated by the development of high-throughput techniques, the focus of biological research has changed in the last decades from the investigation of single cell components to a system-level approach, which aims at an understanding of interactions between these cell components.

A Theoretical Graph Method for Search and Analysis of Critical Phenomena in Biochemical Systems. II. Kinetic Models of Biochemical Oscillators Including Two and Three Substances

Biochemistry (Moscow), 2003
Four kinetic models of hypothetical complex reactions containing minimal two-substance or three-substance oscillators were constructed on the basis of the graphical rules suggested in the preceding work. The kinetic models are thought to be a part of one of four general biochemical systems: 1) system of mutual protein phosphorylation/dephosphorylation;
