Hydrophobic hydrophilic phenomena in biochemical processes

Biophysical Chemistry, 2003
The evolution of concepts developed in the study of the hydrophobic affect is surveyed, within the more general context of solvent-induced effects. A systematic analysis of the solvent-induced contribution to the driving force for the process of protein folding has led to two important modifications in our understanding of these effects.

Free energy calculations: Applications to chemical and biochemical phenomena

Chemical Reviews, 1993
The author will review the applications of free energy calculations employing molecular dynamics or Monte Carlo methods to a variety of chemical and biochemical phenomena. The focus is on the applications of such calculations to molecular solvation, molecular association, macromolecular stability, and enzyme catalysis.

32 32 pH Image Sensors for Real Time Observation of Biochemical Phenomena

TRANSDUCERS 2007 - 2007 International Solid-State Sensors, Actuators and Microsystems Conference, 2007
32 x 32 pH image sensors were successfully fabricated by using the CCD/CMOS image sensor technique, and real time imaging of a chemical reaction and pH distribution was carried out for the first time. The pH variations by a chemical reaction are observed by 200 ms step (i.e. 5 flames per sec).

Plasmonic phenomena in metal nanoapertures and chip-scale instrumentation for biochemical sensing

2006 IEEE Nanotechnology Materials and Devices Conference, 2006
Plasmonic interactions in the metallic nanoaperture array allow for rich phenomena, such as concentration and channeling of light in the subwavelength scale structures. We present high-sensitivity surface plasmon resonance spectroscopy based on a metal nanoslit array. Strong confinement of optical fields in the slit region allows sensitive transduction

ON PHYTOCHROME AND CYTOCHROMES IN PHOTOPERIODIC PHENOMENA: A BIOCHEMICAL APPROACH

Photochemistry and Photobiology, 1966

BIOCHEMICAL EVIDENCES FOR INTERACTION PHENOMENA BETWEEN NORADRENERGIC AND SEROTONINERGIC SYSTEMS IN THE CAT BRAIN

Biochemical Pharmacology, 1973
Publisher Summary This chapter elaborates the biochemical evidences for interaction phenomena between noradrenergic and serotoninergic systems in the cat brain. An inactivation of dorsal noradrenergic pathways was obtained by bilateral coagulation of the initial part of the bundle at the level of the ponto-mesencephalic junction.

Polarization phenomena of aortic tissues: influence of biochemical extractions on the protein dynamic

10th International Symposium on Electrets (ISE 10). Proceedings (Cat. No.99 CH36256), 2003
Cardiovascular tissues are complex materials primarily composed of structural proteins: collagen, elastin and glycoproteins. Nowadays, they are widely studied for the understanding of vascular pathologies, such as atherosclerosis, and for the conceiving of durable bioprostheses.

Obesity-related complications: few biochemical phenomena with reference to tumorigenesis.

The Malaysian journal of pathology, 2013
Overweight or obesity is currently a common health problem in westernized societies globally. Obesity is linked with a sizeable number of disease aetiologies, notably type-2 diabetes, cardiovascular disorders and certain cancers, perhaps through some common mechanisms that favor persistent low-grade inflammation.
