Some Applications of Calorimetry in Biochemistry and Biology
Annual Review of Biophysics and Bioengineering, 1974Calorimetry is concerned with the determination of the enthalpy change accompany ing transfer of a system from an initial state. to a final state, and has historically played a very important role in the accumulation of thermodynamic data. The recent upsurge of calorimetric activity in the biological sciences has been to a large extent concentrated on

Biochemistry and biotechnological applications of Gluconobacter strains
The genus Gluconobacter belongs to the group of acetic acid bacteria, which are characterized by their ability to incompletely oxidize a wide range of carbohydrates and alcohols. The corresponding products (aldehydes, ketones and organic acids) are excreted almost completely into the medium.

Applications of NMR in Agriculture and Biochemistry
1990The complex relationship between molecular structure and biological function is a central theme of most contemporary biochemical studies. The specific interactions of biomacromolecules with themselves, solvents, substrates and other solutes determine their biological functions in living systems.

Streptokinase - Biochemistry and Clinical Application
Enzyme, 2017Plasminogen activation to plasmin is due to enzymatic cleavage of a single peptide bond in the zymogen molecule. Streptokinase is not an enzyme and its activation of plasminogen is indirect. Streptokinase forms stoichiometric complexes with plasmin and plasminogen and these complexes activate plasminogen to plasmin.

Molecular imaging: New applications for biochemistry
Journal of Cellular Biochemistry, 2002Molecular imaging can reveal in vivo analysis and quantification of biochemical reactions. To enable cell-surface imaging of receptors, novel ligands have been developed which can be radiolabeled or imaged by bioluminescence. Specific examples include somatostatin receptors, estrogen and progesterone receptors, receptors involved in adhesion and ...

The Application of Transmittancy Measurements to Biochemistry
Science, 1929In a very brief way I have tried to show how absorption spectra have been intimately related to the development of our knowledge of chlorophyll. One hundred years ago Stokes discovered several laws that are very applicable to-day. For apparatus he used a boarded-up window, a slit in a plank, a lens and a prism.
