Biodesulfurization of Sour Crude Oil

open access: yesModern Applied Science, 2017
Crude oil is one of the most important types of fossil fuel in the world. It is an economically important commodity that is massively used in many industrial activities. The poor quality of crude oil is related to high sulfur content, which translates to lower profit margins and negatively impacts air quality standards. Polyaromatic sulfur heterocycles

Titanium Dioxide as a Catalyst Support in Heterogeneous Catalysis

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, Volume 2014, Issue 1, 2014., 2014
The lack of stability is a challenge for most heterogeneous catalysts. During operations, the agglomeration of particles may block the active sites of the catalyst, which is believed to contribute to its instability. Recently, titanium oxide (TiO2) was introduced as an alternative support material for heterogeneous catalyst due to the effect of its ...

Synthesis of Multiwalled Carbon Nanotubes‐Titania Nanomaterial for Desulfurization of Model Fuel

open access: yesJournal of Nanomaterials, Volume 2014, Issue 1, 2014., 2014
This work reported on the development of novel nanomaterials of multiwalled carbon nanotubes doped with titania (CNT/TiO2) for the adsorptive desulfurization of model fuel oils. Various analytical techniques such as field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM), energy dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy (EDX), and Fourier transform infrared ...

Biodesulfurization of the mixture of dibenzothiophene and its alkylated derivatives by Sphingomonas subarctica T7b [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Organosulfur compounds classified as dibenzothiophenes (DBTs) and their derivatives are contained in petroleum. When used as fuel, these substances release SOx emissions, thus contributing to air pollution, acid rain, and climate change. Therefore, it is

Novel Oxidative Desulfurization of a Model Fuel with H2O2 Catalyzed by AlPMo12O40 under Phase Transfer Catalyst‐Free Conditions

open access: yesJournal of Applied Chemistry, Volume 2013, Issue 1, 2013., 2013
A novel process was developed for oxidative desulfurization (ODS) in the absence of a phase transfer catalyst (PTC) using only Keggin heteropolyacids and their aluminum salts as catalysts. Reactions were performed in biphasic mixtures of isooctane/acetonitrile, with dibenzothiophene (DBT) as a model sulfur compound and hydrogen peroxide as the oxidant.

Biocatalytic desulfurization capabilities of a mixed culture during non-destructive utilization of recalcitrant organosulfur compounds

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2016
We investigated the biodesulfurization potential of a mixed culture AK6 enriched from petroleum hydrocarbons-polluted soil with dibenzothiophene (DBT) as a sulfur source.

Molecular biological enhancement of coal biodesulfurization [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
The overall objectives of this project is to use Molecular Genetics to develop strains of bacteria (esp. Rhodococcus) with enhanced ability to remove sulfur from coal, and to obtain data that will allow the performance and economics of a coal biodesulfurization process to be predicted. 5 figs.

Hydrodesulfurization of Dibenzothiophene: A Machine Learning Approach

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 13, Issue 9, September 2024.
This work analyzes the hydrodesulfurization (HDS) process by compiling data on catalysts derived from MoS2, including their composition, structure, and experimental conditions. Using supervised machine learning methods such as regularized regression and random forest, the study estimates the conversion of DBT and the reaction selectivity.

Synthesis, Characterization and Application of 1‐Butyl‐3 Methylimidazolium Chloride as Green Material for Extractive Desulfurization of Liquid Fuel

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, Volume 2013, Issue 1, 2013., 2013
The possible application of imidazolium ionic liquids as energy‐efficient green material for extractive deep desulfurization of liquid fuel has been investigated. 1‐Butyl‐3‐methylimidazolium chloride [BMIM]Cl was synthesized by nucleophilic substitution reaction of n‐methylimidazolium and 1‐chlorobutane.
