Second generation biol produced by homolactic fermentation of first generation biol
The elaboration of Biol II-G was proposed to improve the properties of Biol I-G from cows, coming from a 10 m3 tubular biodigester which registered average values of 7.05 pH and electrical conductivity 5.01 dS/m. For the preparation, lactic fermentation was carried out for a period of 5 days.

So far, yet so close: α-Catenin dimers help migrating cells get together [PDF]
Epithelial cells in tissues use their actin cytoskeletons to stick together, whereas unattached cells make active plasma membrane protrusions to migrate. In this issue, Wood et al. (2017. J. Cell Biol. https://doi.org/10.1083/jcb.201612006) show that the

Structure and evolution of the magnetochrome domains: no longer alone
Magnetotactic bacteria (MTB) can swim along Earth’s magnetic field lines, thanks to the alignment of dedicated cytoplasmic organelles. These organelles, termed magnetosomes, are proteolipidic vesicles filled by a 35-120 nm crystal of either magnetite or ...

Law of the Iterated Logarithm for some Markov operators [PDF]
The Law of the Iterated Logarithm for some Markov operators, which converge exponentially to the invariant measure, is established. The operators correspond to iterated function systems which, for example, may be used to generalize the cell cycle model ...

DNA replication licensing in stem cells: Gatekeeping the commitment to proliferation. [PDF]
Carroll et al. (2018. J. Cell Biol. https://doi.org/10.1083/jcb.201708023) developed a method to assess DNA replication licensing in tissues. They show that intestinal stem cells within wild-type crypts, but not in crypts with cancer-causing mutations ...

Tensin links energy metabolism to extracellular matrix assembly. [PDF]
The regulation of integrin function is key to fundamental cellular processes, including cell migration and extracellular matrix (ECM) assembly. In this issue, Georgiadou et al. (2017. J. Cell Biol.

DNA methylation at tobacco telomeric sequences [PDF]
Majerová et al. (Plant Mol Biol, 2011) have recently reported that a considerable fraction of cytosines at tobacco telomeres is methylated. Although the data presented in this report indicate that tobacco telomeric sequences undergo certain levels of DNA

A simple mathematical model of gradual Darwinian evolution: Emergence of a Gaussian trait distribution in adaptation along a fitness gradient [PDF]
We consider a simple mathematical model of gradual Darwinian evolution in continuous time and continuous trait space, due to intraspecific competition for common resource in an asexually reproducing population in constant environment, while far from ...
