Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Ultracentrifugation and Ultrafiltration Differentially Alter the Composition and Functionality of the Biomolecular Corona of Extracellular Vesicles

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Biology
While extracellular vesicles (EVs) are increasingly recognized for their diagnostic and therapeutic potential, many unknowns remain. An emerging and important concept in EV biology is the EV biomolecular corona, a dynamic layer of absorbed biomolecules ...

The effect of light-gray forest soil tilling systems on the yield and quality of oat grain in the Nizhny Novgorod region

open access: yesАграрная наука Евро-Северо-Востока, 2020
The research was conducted in the Nizhny Novgorod region in 2019 on light gray forest soil in the pea-oat crop rotation link. Studied was the effect of soil tillage systems (traditional mouldboard tillage with mouldboard plow; non- mouldboard "deep ...

Biological assays with special reference to biological standards [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Hygiene, 1950
A paper on biological assays and biological standards might be expected to start with a definition. What is a biological assay and what is a biological standard? However, I shall for the moment make the somewhat doubtful assumption that we all know the answer to those questions but shall return to them later, making a start meanwhile by discussing some

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Biological information specialists for biological informatics.

open access: yesJournal of biomedical discovery and collaboration, 2007
Data management and integration are complicated and ongoing problems that will require commitment of resources and expertise from the various biological science communities. Primary components of successful cross-scale integration are smooth information management and migration from one context to another.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

IL-12p35 Inhibits Neuroinflammation and Ameliorates Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2017
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an inflammatory demyelinating disease in which cytokines produced by immune cells that infiltrate the brain and spinal cord play a central role.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.
