Translating biological parameters into clinically useful diagnostic tests
Current Psychiatry Reports, 2009Psychiatry has lagged behind other specialties in developing diagnostic laboratory tests for the purpose of confirming or ruling out a diagnosis. Biological research into the pathophysiology of psychiatric disorders has, however, yielded some highly replicable abnormalities that have the potential for development into clinically useful diagnostic tests.

Diagnostics of optical anisotropy changesin biological tissues using Müller matrix
Quantum Electronics, 2011We study the efficiency of Muller matrix diagnostics of birefringence in biological tissue layers with different optical thickness by measuring a set of third- and fourth-order statistical moments, characterising the coordinate distributions of the matrix element Z44 at different points of the histological section.

The presence of cuticular outgrowths around the excretory pore was a consistent and peculiar character of Tylenchulus graminis, T. palustris and T. semipenetrans adult females. Shape and size of these cuticular structures varied and their number ranged usually from 2 to 5.

Disease diagnostics of biological tissues using free-space technique in terahertz frequency range
2015 IEEE Biomedical Circuits and Systems Conference (BioCAS), 2015The sensitivity of terahertz absorption to water, biological tissue structure content, and the degree of hydration of diseased tissues are exploited to distinguish between normal and malignant human skin tissues. This can be achieved using free-space technique in terahertz frequency range (110–170 GHz), with the reflection and transmission coefficients,

Noninvasive Cancer Diagnostics Using Native Fluorescence Analysis of Biological Fluids
2017As cancer ranks among the most common diseases worldwide, its early diagnosis has become a key point of clinical oncology. Such a diagnosis has been accomplished using a number of techniques; however, some of them show low sensitivity. Conventional laboratory methods are expensive and usually cannot identify lesions in an early stage or are provided in

Tomographic diagnostics of technical materials and biological tissues using electric current
Journal of Applied Mechanics and Technical Physics, 2001A mathematical model for impedance computer tomography methods is considered. The continuum formulation of the main problem is studied. Resolving integral equations are derived. A solution algorithm based on the Bubnov - Galerkin method with linearization of nonlinear resolving equations is developed. A numerical example is given, and numerical results

Relapsing polychondritis (RP) is a very rare autoimmune disease characterised by a relapsing inflammation of the cartilaginous tissues (joints, ears, nose, intervertebral discs, larynx, trachea and cartilaginous bronchi), which may progress to long-lasting atrophy and/or deformity of the cartilages.
