ECVAM's Activities on Biologicals

Alternatives to Laboratory Animals, 2002
This paper summarises key activities initiated and the progress achieved between April 1993 and June 2002 in implementing the Three Rs in one of ECVAM's priority areas — the production and quality control of biologicals. These have included: organising nine key workshops; financially supporting and/or participating in a number of prevalidation and/or ...

Biologically active quinazolones

1994
Quinazolinones form a large group among the pharmacologically active chemical moieties and are generally of little toxicity without serious side effects to the human body. Quinazolinones are versatile nitrogen heterocyclic compounds, displaying a broad spectrum of biological and pharmacological activities in animal as well as in human systems.

Biologically Active Citrulline Peptides

Nature, 1962
To the best of our knowledge no peptides have so far been synthesized with citrulline as a building component. This alone could be sufficient reason to study citrulline peptides, but our investigations were prompted by other considerations as well.

Biologically active indolizidine alkaloids

Medicinal Research Reviews, 2020
AbstractIndolizidine alkaloids are chemical constituents isolated from various marine and terrestrial plants and animals, including but not limited to trees, fungi, ants, and frogs, with a myriad of important biological activities. In this review, we discuss the biological activity and pharmacological effects of indolizidine alkaloids and offer new ...

Biological activity of sterigmatocystin

Mycopathologia et Mycologia Applicata, 1968
The biological activity of sterigmatocystin towards mice, ducklings, and some microorganisms was determined. The LD50 of sterigmatocystin for mice was in excess of 800 mg/kg. Aflatoxin B1 was 125 times more toxic in the ducklings tests than was sterigmatocystin.

Biological Activity of Humus

1996
The addition of organic manure not only maintains but even improves soil fertility and, from earliest times, humus has been recognized as one of the major natural resources for agricultural purpose. In the absence of animal dung the value of green manure was recognized by the ancient Chinese (Jiao, 1983), while the Romans systematically used animal ...
