Recent progress on surface chemistry of plasmonic metal nanoparticles for colorimetric assay of drugs in pharmaceutical and biological samples

Trends in Analytical Chemistry (TrAC), 2018
Plasmonic metal nanoparticles have been explored as a new class of chemical read-outs for assaying of a variety of chemical and biological species because of their unique physico-chemical and size dependent properties.

A BIOLOGICAL ASSAY FOR CALCITONIN

Journal of Endocrinology, 1965
SUMMARY (1) Calcitonin preparations from acetone-dried thyroid were administered to rats by various routes. (2) Intravenous administration, especially by infusion, produced a much greater fall in plasma calcium than s.c. or i.p. injection. (3) The log dose-effect curves after i.v.

The biologic assay of senna

Journal of the American Pharmaceutical Association (Scientific ed.), 1949
It has been found that rodents are suitable test animals (or use in determining the potency of senna, and in the present work mice were used. The assay procedure described involves administering the preparation under test at three dosage levels selected with a view to producing positive laxative effects in approximately 25, 50, and 75 of three similar ...

Biologic Assay of Mercury Ointments*†

Journal of the American Pharmaceutical Association (Scientific ed.), 1947
Using the storage of mercury in the kidney of the rat as a measure of cutaneous penetration, 8 official mercury ointments have been assayed. Mercury oleate and nitrate ointments showed the greatest penetration; calomel and yellow mercuric oxide showed the least.

Biological assays for interferons

Journal of Immunological Methods, 2002
Interferons (IFN) are potent biologically active proteins synthesised and secreted by somatic cells of all mammalian species. They have been well characterised, especially those of human origin, with respect to structure, biological activities, and clinical therapeutic effects.

Automated biological assay of cholecystokinin

Medical & Biological Engineering, 1976
This paper describes a modification of the superfusion technique for the bioassay of cholecystokinin in human serum. This allows samples to be applied automatically, thus greatly increasing the number of samples, the ease of performance of the assay and its clinical significance.

Biological assay of epinephrine

Journal of the American Pharmaceutical Association (Scientific ed.), 1945
Epinephrine solutions were assayed by the mammalian blood pressure method modified by application of a modern experimental design and method of interpretation. Results and reliability of individual assays were computed mathematically. Eleven epinephrine solutions of known potency were assayed on atropinized cats.
