Accelerating Materials Discovery: A Review of Machine Learning in X‐Ray Absorption Spectroscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This review systematically details how machine learning transforms X‐ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) analysis. It covers advanced deep learning architectures for structure‐spectra mapping and inverse tasks, while discussing key challenges like the simulation‐to‐reality gap.

Policy uncertainty shocks and farm investments in Europe: Evidence from a newspaper‐based index

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract In order to quantify the impact of agricultural policy uncertainty on European farmers' investment behavior, we construct a newspaper‐based monthly index of European agricultural policy uncertainty from 2013 to 2023. We use 327,224 newspaper articles to assess and compare the trends in policy uncertainty across five top agricultural producers ...

Switching ATP‐Forming Phosphoryl‐Transfer Chemistry With a Restricted Set of Amino Acids

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Constraints on amino acid composition relevant to prebiotic chemistry reshape enzyme chemistry by replacing the canonical mechanism within a conserved protein fold with a distinct ATP‐forming reaction, ADP disproportionation. Such constraints generate alternative catalytic solutions not observed in modern enzymes and point to chemically plausible early

Biomimetic Nanomedicine for Aging‐Impaired Bone Regeneration: From Microenvironmental Dysfunction to Precision Therapeutics

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
Aging disrupts the cellular, immune, vascular, and neural processes required for bone regeneration. This review connects these pathological barriers with biomimetic nanomedicine design, highlighting strategies for cellular rejuvenation, immune modulation, vascular regeneration, and neuro–bone coupling.

Photoswitchable Ambiphilicity: Light‐Gated Frustrated Lewis Pair Reactivity and Z‐Type Interaction

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Light‐controlled ambiphilicity is realized in photoswitchable intramolecular phosphorus/boron Lewis pairs. Reversible switching modulates both the thermodynamics and kinetics of frustrated Lewis‐pair reactivity, enabling light‐gated CO2 binding and release.

An Alkali Amide Approach to Triphosphabenzenes

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Alkali metal amides offer a simple route to phosphorus aromatics. LiNMe2 catalyzes [2+2+2] cyclotrimerization of a phosphaalkyne, while tetrahydrofuran (THF) stabilizes a λ4‐triphosphabenzene anion intermediate. Using KN(SiMe3)2 switches reactivity to arene C(sp3)─H activation, giving benzylated λ4‐triphosphabenzenes and rare λ5‐triphosphabenzenes ...

PRISM, a Bidirectional NMR Foundation Model: From Peak List to Structure and Back

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Structure elucidation from NMR can consume an expert for hours or even days. PRISM addresses this with a bidirectional transformer trained on 1.19 M real experimental spectra: it translates 1H and 13C peak lists into structures with 60.1% stereo‐aware top‐1 accuracy (72.5% stereo‐unaware), and, working in reverse, predicts spectra back from structures,
