Dynamic Analysis of the Bioprosthetic Heart Valve
2010 International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Computational Intelligence, 2010This paper establishes parametric model of the bioprosthetic heart valve via computer aided design. Dynamic finite element analysis is used along with a geometrically accurate model of the bioprosthetic heart valve. The stress distribution of cylindrical and paraboloidal valve leaflets under the same load is analyzed as the leaflets are closed.

Detailed examination of complete bioprosthetic heart valves.
ASAIO transactions, 1990Six (3 control and 3 explanted) bioprostheses were examined histologically after embedding the complete valve in "plastic" and sectioning across the valve at 90 degree to the horizontal plane, and then horizontally across a stent post, with a low speed saw. The prostheses, porcine or pericardial, had been in place 52 to 121 months.
