BioSITe: A Method for Direct Detection and Quantitation of Site-Specific Biotinylation.

open access: yesJournal of Proteome Research, 2017
Biotin-based labeling strategies are widely employed to study protein-protein interactions, subcellular proteomes and post-translational modifications, as well as, used in drug discovery.

A guide to characterizing the dynamic mitochondria–endoplasmic reticulum contact sites

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
The dynamism, heterogeneity, and functional complexity of mitochondria–endoplasmic reticulum contacts (MERCs) require combined methodological approaches to offset limitations of individual techniques. Here, we review available tools and methodologies for MERC research, outline key technical challenges, and discuss how recent advances deliver ...

Targeting protein biotinylation enhances tuberculosis chemotherapy

open access: yesScience Translational Medicine, 2018
Inhibitors of biotin protein ligase and protein biotinylation in Mycobacterium tuberculosis act synergistically with the drug rifampicin, potentially shortening tuberculosis treatment.

Modulating the activity of the APC/C regulator SISAMBA improves the sugar and antioxidant content of tomato fruits

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
Summary The Anaphase‐Promoting Complex/Cyclosome (APC/C) is an E3 ubiquitin ligase that plays a crucial role in ubiquitin‐dependent proteolysis of key cell cycle regulators, which is completed by the 26S proteasome. Previously, SAMBA, a plant‐specific regulator of the APC/C, was identified in Arabidopsis as a critical factor controlling organ size ...

Chromatin Affinity Purification (ChAP) from Arabidopsis thaliana Rosette Leaves Using in vivo Biotinylation System

open access: yesBio-Protocol, 2018
Chromatin Affinity Purification (ChAP) is widely used to study chromatin architecture and protein complexes interacting with DNA. Here we present an efficient method for ChAP from Arabidopsis thaliana rosette leaves, in which in vivo biotinylation system

Kinase-catalyzed biotinylation of DNA

open access: yesBioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry, 2018
Prior work documented use of γ-phosphate modified ATP analogs to label DNA using T4 polynucleotide kinases (T4PNK), although applications have been limited. To fully characterize kinase-catalyzed labeling of nucleic acids, we explored use of ATP-biotin as a cosubstrate with T4PNK. T4PNK accepted ATP-biotin to 5'-label single stranded DNA.

A Universal Approach to Anchoring Chromophores onto Magnetic Scaffold for Achieving Easily Recyclable Heterogeneous Photocatalytic Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 26, July 10, 2025.
The practical application of chromophores such as porphyrins, coumarins, anthraquinones, and pyrene derivatives in photocatalysis is severely limited by catalyst stability and reusability. In this work, a simple and universal strategy is presented for preparing highly efficient and recyclable heterogeneous photocatalysts for the oxidative coupling of ...

In Vivo Biotinylation of the Toxoplasma Parasitophorous Vacuole Reveals Novel Dense Granule Proteins Important for Parasite Growth and Pathogenesis

open access: yesmBio, 2016
Toxoplasma gondii is an obligate intracellular parasite that invades host cells and replicates within a unique parasitophorous vacuole. To maintain this intracellular niche, the parasite secretes an array of dense granule proteins (GRAs) into the nascent

Production of in vivo-biotinylated rotavirus particles

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 2012
Although inserting exogenous viral genome segments into rotavirus particles remains a hard challenge, this study describes the in vivo incorporation of a recombinant viral capsid protein (VP6) into newly assembled rotavirus particles. In vivo biotinylation technology was exploited to biotinylate a recombinant VP6 protein fused to a 15 aa biotin ...
