Halothane Biotransformation in Anesthetists

Survey of Anesthesiology, 1979
Serum bromide levels were measured in 115 anesthetists by use of x-ray fluorescence spectrometry. Bromide levels peaked at 184 +/- 21 micron in anesthetists regularly exposed to halothane (n = 20), at 58 +/- 4 micron in anesthetists sporadically exposed to halothane (n = 71), and at 46 +/- 3 micron in nonexposed anesthetists (n = 24).

Biotransformation of eugenol to vanillin by a novel strain Bacillus safensis SMS1003

Biocatalysis and Biotransformation, 2019
Due to the extensive applications of vanillin as flavored compound and increasing consumers concern for its natural and environment friendly mode of production, present work was focused on the selection of bacterial isolate capable of producing vanillin ...

Influence of Fermentation with Different Lactic Acid Bacteria and in Vitro Digestion on the Biotransformation of Phenolic Compounds in Fermented Pomegranate Juices.

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2017
This study describes the effect of fermentation and the impact of simulated gastrointestinal digestion (SGD) of four fermented pomegranate juices with different lactic acid bacteria (LAB) on the biotransformation of phenolic compounds. The changes of the

Mucosal Biotransformation

Toxicologic Pathology, 1988
About 4 million compounds have been described by chemists, and some 60,000 are presently on the market. The search for new chemicals with better properties and less toxicity continues, and future life quality will depend on our ability to find the safest compounds in each field of application.

Industrial carbohydrate biotransformations

Carbohydrate Research, 2008
Nearly all major industrial processes which involve carbohydrates, include biotechnological transformations. This is due to the complex nature of carbohydrates where stereo- and regioselectivity are highly complex and difficult to control. Enzymes and microorganisms work highly selectively and efficiently in water solution, and provide high yield in ...

Metabolism (Biotransformation)

2019
Metabolism is the sum of all chemical reactions occurring in organisms at the cellular level to sustain life. The main purpose of metabolism is to convert food to energy to run cellular processes, build macromolecule building blocks, i.e., proteins, lipids, nucleic acids and carbohydrates and eliminate nitrogenous wastes.

Biotransformation and Fate of Mycotoxins

Journal of Toxicology: Toxin Reviews, 1999
Mycotoxins are well known lo undergo biotransformations in humans and animal species. These bioconversions generally take place in liver or the gastrointestinal tract and are a consequence of the action of tissue enzymes or microflora. Metabolites can correspond to oxidative derivatives which are produced in liver, such as hydroxymetabolites of ...
