N,N-Bis(4′-(hexyloxy)-[1,1′-biphenyl]-4-yl)thiophen-2-amine
N,N-Diarylthiophen-2-amine units are of great interest for the synthesis of optoelectronic devices. In this communication, N,N-bis (4′-(hexyloxy)-[1,1′-biphenyl]-4-yl)thiophen-2-amine was obtained by means of a Buchwald–Hartwig cross-coupling reaction of

Role of the Recombination Zone in Organic Light‐Emitting Devices
This review summarizes the critical role of the recombination zone in organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs). We highlight that broadening the recombination zone in OLEDs based on emissive layers with balanced charge transport and high photoluminescence quantum yields provides a promising route toward achieving both long operational lifetime and high ...

tert-Butyl Bis(4′-(Hexyloxy)-[1,1′-biphenyl]-4-yl)carbamate
New donor building blocks, i.e., triarylamino derivatives, are of great interest for the production of organic photovoltaic materials. In this communication, bis(4′-(hexyloxy)-[1,1′-biphenyl]-4-yl)amine was synthesized in a two-step process via ...

Biphenyls, a new class of compound that inhibits plateletactivating factors.
Honokiol (1), a constituent of Magnoliae cortex, and related synthetic biphenyls inhibited the platelet aggregation induced by a few aggregating agents. In particular, compounds 3, 5, and 10 had an inhibitory effect on platelet activating factor (PAF), which provides a new class of PAF inhibitor.

Microbial biodegradation of 4-chlorobiphenyl, a model compound of chlorinated biphenyls [PDF]
The biodegradation products of 4-chlorobiphenyl were analyzed in an Achromobacter sp. strain and a Bacillus brevis strain. Both strains generated the same metabolites, with 4-chlorobenzoic acid as the major metabolic product. Our results corroborate previous observations whereby most bacterial strains degrade the chlorobiphenyls via a major pathway ...

Single Crystals of Perylene Diimide‐Based Two‐Dimensional Covalent Organic Frameworks
Synthesizing extended crystals of two‐dimensional covalent organic frameworks (2D COFs) has remained a major challenge. Here, we report a high‐temperature double‐modulator strategy that provides access to new perylene diimide (PDI)‐based COFs with crystal sizes of up to 50 µm.
