For many years knee arthrodesis has been recommended for patients with severe degenerative disease complicated by obesity, venous insufficiency or old sepsis. Recently, failed total knee arthroplasties are being treated by arthrodesis, but these new indications entail new and difficult circumstances.

BIPLANES AND THEIR AUTOMORPHISMS
Studia scientiarum mathematicarum Hungarica, 1989Finite groups, especially permutation groups as automorphism groups of designs are a very powerful tool for investigations in design theory. Here we shall consider an application of automorphisms in constructing and characterizing biplanes.

It is possible to produce self-orthogonal codes from the incidence matrices of symmetric (v,k,λ)-designs. We describe four such methods here, where M is the incidence matrix of the design.

Biplane digital subtraction angiography
Computerized Radiology, 1986Biplane digital subtraction angiography was performed by placing a rapid switch between the anteroposterior and lateral T.V. cameras and the A-D converter. Alternate exposures from two X-ray tubes were employed. Excellent anteroposterior and lateral DSA was obtained especially for the brain and neck.

Illusory Biplane Radiographic Images
Radiology, 1977The commonly held belief that radiographs taken at right angles to one another will accurately portray the precise location of a metallic implant within a skeletal structure is erroneous. To the contrary, such biplane radiographs often provide misinformation about the exact location of metallic implants. The explanation for this phenomenon is discussed

This book is an in-depth exploration of the experience of the US Marine Corps during the so-called small wars era, 1915–1934, with an emphasis on the marines’ employment of aviation. The introduction to the book provides a brief history of the Marine Corps up to World War I, an explanation of small wars as a concept, and terms and definitions.

Abstract One of the fundamental problems preventing commercial transport aircraft from supersonic flight is the generation of strong sonic booms. Sonic booms are the ground-level manifestation of shock waves created by airplanes flying at supersonic speeds.

ENDOSCOPIC USE OF THE BIPLANE FLUOROSCOPE
Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1947WHILE the biplane fluoroscope is not needed in the majority of cases of foreign body, nevertheless there are instances in which its use is either extremely helpful or absolutely necessary. It has been my fortunate experience to have worked in a hospital where since 1931 the biplane fluoroscope has been available (Presbyterian Hospital, and Wesley ...

Quasimultiples of biplanes and residual biplanes
2019Simple tests for the nonisomorphism of disjoint union of biplanes (or their residuals) are employed to improve some lower bounds on the number of non-isomorphic designs in the ''tables of parameters of BIBDs with \(r\leq 41''\) by \textit{R. Mathon} and \textit{A. Rosa} [Ann. Discrete Math. (to appear)].
