Biplots for the Correlation Matrix

open access: yesJournal of Computational and Graphical Statistics
The visualization of the correlation matrix by means of biplots is considered. The classical centering operations, either by the overall mean, the column means, or row and column means are shown to be problematic for the visualisation of the correlation matrix, and sub-optimal in terms of goodness-of-fit. More flexible adjustments are possible by using

Can DNA from wet, temperate soils be used for palaeoecological reconstruction?

open access: yesJournal of Quaternary Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Sedimentary ancient DNA in well‐dated contexts (sedaDNA) has great potential as a palaeoecological proxy. A few studies have attempted palaeoecological reconstructions using sedaDNA from soil; these studies have been mainly restricted to cold and/or dry soils.

Nutritional and sensory characteristics of local and hybrid East African Highland cooking bananas: Implications for breeding programs

open access: yesJSFA reports, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Bananas (Musa species) are an important staple food and cash crop in many parts of the world. The East African Highland cooking bananas form the backbone of food security for millions of Ugandans. The demand for high quality cooking bananas is thus closely linked to their sensory characteristics (which drive consumer preference) and

Three-Dimensional Biplots

open access: yesBiometrika, 1990
The biplot of a two-way table is discussed as a diagnostic tool for investigating bilinear models with additive terms for rows and columns and at least one multiplicative term. The full biplot is three dimensional with the points representing row effects concentrated is a plane orthogonal to another plane containing the points representing the column ...

Determination of vitamin C and β‐carotene content in cherry tomato genotypes

open access: yesJSFA reports, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Cherry tomato (Solanum lycopersicum var. cerasiforme) is valued for its high yield potential and rich antioxidant composition. This study aimed to evaluate morphological traits, yield performance, and antioxidant content of nine cherry tomato genotypes grown under field conditions in Bangladesh.

Effect of the addition of yacon flour (Smallanthus sonchifolius) and freezing on baking performance

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract BACKGROUND Yacon (Smallanthus sonchifolius), a tuber rich in fructans, presents potential for application in breadmaking due to its nutritional properties and cryoprotectant activity. The aim of this study was to evaluate the incorporation of yacon flour in bread formulations (50 g/kg and 100 g/kg on flour mixture basis) and its impact on ...

Genotype x environment interaction analysis of multi-environment wheat trials in India using AMMI and GGE biplot models

open access: yesCrop Breeding and Applied Biotechnology, 2019
Fifty wheat genotypes were evaluated at nine diverse locations in India to identify high-yielding and stable genotypes. The analysis of variance based on additive main effects and multiplicative interaction (AMMI) indicated significant genotype ...

Análises Biplot: conceitos, interpretações e aplicações Biplot analysis: concepts, interpretations and uses

Impact of variety and environmental factors on proteolytic quality parameters of selected malting barley varieties

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract BACKGROUND Barley (Hordeum vulgare) is a major cereal crop, essential for global food processing and brewing. Malting barley represents less than one‐fifth of global barley output due to strict quality requirements, such as total protein content, enzymatic activity, and kernel homogeneity, which directly influence malting performance and ...
