Mood disorders and 5-HTR2A genetic variants – the moderator effect of inflammation on expression of affective polarity phenotype

open access: yesBMC Psychiatry
Background Although repeatedly confirmed, the molecular nature of gene-environment (GxE) interactions has rarely been investigated in the clinical context of mood disorders.

Correlation between Peripheral Levels of Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor and Hippocampal Volume in Children and Adolescents with Bipolar Disorder

open access: yesNeural Plasticity, 2015
Pediatric bipolar disorder (PBD) is a serious mental disorder that affects the development and emotional growth of affected patients. The brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) is recognized as one of the possible markers of the framework and its ...

Quantized Transport in Graphene p-n Junctions in Magnetic Field

open access: yes, 2007
Recent experimental work on locally gated graphene layers resulting in p-n junctions have revealed quantum Hall effect in their transport behavior. We explain the observed conductance quantization which is fractional in the bipolar regime and integer in ...

Molecularly Engineered Highly Stable Memristors with Ultra‐Low Operational Voltage: Integrating Synthetic DNA with Quasi‐2D Perovskites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Molecularly engineered memristors integrating Ag nanoparticle–embedded synthetic DNA with quasi‐2D halide perovskites enable ultra‐low‐operational voltage, forming‐free resistive switching, and record‐low power density. This synergistic integration of customized DNA and 2D OHP in bio‐hybrid architecture enhances charge transport, reduces variability ...

Prodromal symptoms of a first manic episode: a qualitative study to the perspectives of patients with bipolar disorder and their caregivers’

open access: yesInternational Journal of Bipolar Disorders
Background Diagnosing bipolar disorder (BD) is challenging, and adequate treatment is of major importance to minimalize the consequences of the illness. Early recognition is one way to address this. Although in clinical research the prodromal phase of BD

BEOL‐Compatible Liquid‐Metal‐Printing of Ultrathin 2D Oxide Memtransistors and Its Applications in Neuromorphic Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ultrathin 2D indium oxide memtransistors are reproducibly fabricated via a scalable liquid‐metal‐printing process under ambient, low‐temperature conditions. The devices achieve robust, gate‐tunable bipolar memristive switching with high switching ratios at a BEOL‐compatible maximum processing temperature of 300°C. Governed by trap‐controlled transport,

Uncovering the Origin of Efficiency Roll‐Off in TADF OLEDs

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
OLEDs based on thermally activated delayed fluorescent (TADF) materials often suffer from a severe drop in efficiency at high brightness levels. This work presents a technique to uncover the source of this efficiency drop, and quantifies the exciton‐exciton and exciton‐polaron annihilation processes responsible for efficiency losses in our TADF OLEDs ...

An Envelope Disrupted by a Quadrupolar Outflow in the Pre-Planetary Nebula IRAS19475+3119

open access: yes, 2011
IRAS 19475+3119 is a quadrupolar pre-planetary nebula (PPN), with two bipolar lobes, one in the east-west (E-W) direction and one in the southeast-northwest (SE-NW) direction.

Shape‐Changing Multiphase Microparticles from Complex Liquid Crystal Emulsions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid crystalline network (LCN) microparticles are prepared from single, double (Janus), and triple emulsions through a simple and scalable bulk‐emulsification strategy. Under heating, the particles exhibit robust, reversible, large‐amplitude deformations that depend both on the morphology and the liquid crystals director field configuration.

Atomic Layer Deposition in Transistors and Monolithic 3D Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Transistors are fundamental building blocks of modern electronics. This review summarizes recent progress in atomic layer deposition (ALD) for the synthesis of two‐dimensional (2D) metal oxides and transition‐metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs), with particular emphasis on their enabling role in monolithic three‐dimensional (M3D) integration for next ...
