Role of the Recombination Zone in Organic Light‐Emitting Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the critical role of the recombination zone in organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs). We highlight that broadening the recombination zone in OLEDs based on emissive layers with balanced charge transport and high photoluminescence quantum yields provides a promising route toward achieving both long operational lifetime and high ...

Single‐Chromophore Homojunction Organic Solar Cells: A Path to Simplicity and Efficiency

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This perspective discusses how the intrinsic optoelectronic properties of organic semiconductors, their molecular packing in the solid‐state, and internal energetic gradients within a device can enable free‐charge carrier generation in homojunction organic solar cells.

Self‐Powered Flexible Triboelectric‐Gated Ion‐Gel Transistor for Neuromorphic Tactile Sensing and Human Activity Recognition

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A fully flexible ion‐gel‐gated graphene‐channel transistor driven by a triboelectric nanogenerator enables self‐powered tactile sensing and synaptic learning. Mimicking spike‐rate‐dependent plasticity, the device exhibits frequency‐selective potentiation and depression, supporting rate‐coded neuromorphic computation even under flex.

Bipolar biogeography [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 2011
In PNAS, Popp et al. (1) present a convincing molecular phylogenetic analysis of a small group of ericaceous flowering plants, Empetrum (the crowberries), which includes species distributed at high northern latitudes and high southern latitudes but nowhere in between—a so-called bipolar (or antitropical or, broadly speaking, amphitropical) disjunction (

A study of incidence of bipolar disorder in patients treated for major depression

open access: yesTelangana Journal of Psychiatry, 2019
Aim: Recurrent episodes of depression are common in both unipolar and bipolar disorder, but diagnostic and clinical problem with bipolar mood disorder is that hypomanic episodes usually go unnoticed by caretakers and clinicians.

BIPOLAR DISORDERS AND BIPOLARITY: THE NOTION OF THE "MIXITY"

open access: yesPsychiatria Danubina, 2019
The notion of "mixity" of the dysphoric phases of the bipolarity includes the most insidious symptoms of the bipolar spectrum of mood disorders: the overlapping between depression-restlessness-irritability-grief-tension-anxiety can cause worsening of the mood disorders and in the most acute phases may cause increased risk of major behavioural ...

Phase Engineering of Nanomaterials (PEN): Evolution, Current Challenges, and Future Opportunities

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the synthesis, phase transition, advanced characterization spanning ex situ to in situ and operando techniques, and diverse applications of phase engineering of nanomaterials (PEN). It further outlines key challenges and future opportunities, such as phase stability, architecture control, and artificial intelligence (AI)‐driven ...
