Design of Single‐Atom Catalysts Anchored in N‐Doped Biphenylene Using Symbolic Regression for Electrocatalytic Nitrate Reduction to Ammonia

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A high‐throughput in silico calculations for NO3RR based on transition metal doped and nitrogen decorated biphenylene network are performed. A symbolic regression is designed to capture the hidden descriptors of NO3RR for hyper dimensional system entailing large geometric variability.

Hungry for Knowledge: Octopamine Signaling Regulates Hunger‐Enhanced Olfactory Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Researchers demonstrate that hunger state facilitates both aversive and appetitive olfactory learning. Two distinct octopamine signaling pathways are involved in aversive or appetitive memory formation in the hunger state. And, hunger state also facilitates the formation of both types of memories via an evolutionarily conserved norepinephrine (the ...

Temiar Bird Names - three lists

open access: yes, 2022
The Temiars carry intrinsic knowledge of tropical montane birds and there are many species which find pertinent place in their beliefs and daily existence, deep in the forest of the Malayan Peninsula. I give three lists of bird names in Temiar: 1. Revised list, first published by Lim et al, Malayan Nature Journal, 2017. 2.

Perspective: Hollow Core Optical Fibres for Ultraviolet and Visible Wavelengths

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hollow core optical fibres bypass material constraints that limit optical fibres at ultraviolet and visible wavelengths. However, their challenging fabrication has limited their development, and significant gains in performance remain possible. In this perspective we outline approaches to enable the next generation of fibres for shorter wavelengths ...

Missing Words [PDF]

open access: yes, 1970
If we wish to refer to the quantity midway between the numbers one and two, we say ONE AND A HALF. Elementary as the concept is, it has taken us four words to express it.

Photonic Time Crystals and Time‐Varying Electromagnetic Metamatter: A New Direction for Ultrafast Tunable Photonic and Microwave Materials and Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Photonic time crystals (PTCs) are systems in which electromagnetic parameters are modulated periodically in time, producing momentum bandgaps via temporal scattering rather than spatial Bragg processes. This review examines the theoretical frameworks, modeling, and computational tools for time‐varying media, and summarizes experimental demonstrations ...
