The temperature sensitivity of fiber loop mirror based on the pressure-induced birefringence in singlemode fiber

SPIE Proceedings, 2010
A fiber-optic temperature sensor based on a pressure-induced birefringence singlemode fiber (SMF) loop mirror is developed. The pressure-induced birefringence singlemode fiber is made by applying a force against a short section of length of a singlemode fiber. The length of the sensing element for the temperature sensing is about 50 mm.

An all-fiber electric voltage sensor based on high-birefringence fiber loop mirror

SPIE Proceedings, 2005
In this paper, an all-fiber electric voltage sensor based on high birefringence fiber loop mirror is presented. This voltage sensor is composed of a 3dB coupler and ~8m high birefringence (HiBi) fiber, part of which is affixed to a piezoelectric translator (PZT).

A fiber Bragg grating demodulation system using high-birefringence fiber loop mirror

SPIE Proceedings, 2014
In this paper, a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) demodulation system based on high-birefringence fiber loop mirror (Hi-Bi FLM) is proposed and demonstrated. The approximate linear edge of the transmittance of the Hi-Bi FLM, which is a sinusoidal function of wavelength, is used to interrogate the sensing FBGs. The relationship between the wavelength period of

Thulium-doped fiber laser using two FOLMs with a high birefringence fiber in the loop

SPIE Proceedings, 2017
We report a linear cavity all-fiber Thulium-doped fiber (TDF) laser with tunable narrow linewidth operating near to 2 μm of wavelength. The TDF is pumped with a laser source at 1567 nm. The cavity is delimited by two fiber optical loop mirrors (FOLM) with high birefringence fiber in the loop (Hi-Bi FOLM) with different periodical wavelength-dependent ...

Dynamic gain flattening of an erbium-doped fiber amplifier using a high-birefringence fiber loop mirror

OFC 2001. Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exhibit. Technical Digest Postconference Edition (IEEE Cat. 01CH37171), 2001
A flexible method based on a high-birefringence fiber loop mirror is proposed for the gain flattening of an erbium-doped fiber amplifier. The gain profile was flattened to within /spl plusmn/0.9 dB over a 33 nm bandwidth.

Simultaneous measurement of strain and temperature using a high birefringence fiber loop mirror and an erbium-doped fiber

SPIE Proceedings, 2010
A fiber sensor configuration suitable for simultaneous measurement of temperature and strain is investigated. The sensor consists of a high-birefringence fiber loop mirror concatenating with an erbium-doped fiber. By monitoring the peak power variation and peak wavelength shift, it is feasible to simultaneously measure temperature and strain.

Sensitivity of PANDA high-birefringence fiber loop mirror with temperature sensing

SPIE Proceedings, 2010
With surrounding temperature changing, the shifting characteristics of the filtered spectrum of Panda high birefringence loop mirror are researched, according to the birefringence laws of Panda high-birefringence fiber and filter properties of the high-birefringence fiber loop mirror. Its sensitivity coefficient is up to 1.4219×10 -9 m/°C.

A novel high-birefringence fiber loop mirror electric current sensor

SPIE Proceedings, 2007
A novel electric current sensor based on a high-birefringence fiber loop mirror(HBFLM) and a kind of magnetostrictive material rod(MMR) is demonstrated theoretically and experimentally. Part of the high-birefringence fiber(HBF) is pasted onto the MMR which is placed in the central part of a solenoid.

Application of high birefringence fiber Sagnac loop mirror in temperature sensing

SPIE Proceedings, 2007
Experiments using high birefringence fiber Sagnac loop mirror as the temperature sensor are reported. We study the characteristics of this sensor based on intensity detection. The result is linear in the measurable range. The sensing sensitivities of temperature is 0.92nm/°C, which is nearly 89 times larger than the typical temperature sensitivities ...
