Relationship between mothers’ weight gain during pregnancy, neonatal birth ‎weight and cesarean cases in villages and cities

open access: yesJournal of Holistic Nursing and Midwifery, 2005
Introduction: The goal of prenatal care is maintenance of mother health and delivery of a ‎healthy neonate. Weight gain is the most obvious physical change during pregnancy and ‎controlling mother weight plays an important role in safe process of

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Is the association of birth weight with premenopausal breast cancer risk mediated through childhood growth? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Several studies have found positive associations between birth weight and breast cancer risk at premenopausal ages. The mechanisms underlying this association are not known, but it is possible that it may be mediated through childhood growth. We examined

Evaluation of possible associated factors for early childhood caries: are preterm birth and birth weight related?

open access: yesBMC Oral Health
Background This study aimed to evaluate the oral and dental health of preschool children aged 12–71 months living in the Eastern Anatolia Region of Turkey, and to examine the effects of low birth weight (LBW) and preterm, early term and term birth on ...

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

High Birth Weight and Cognitive Outcomes [PDF]

open access: yes
While the effects of low birth weight have long been explored, those of high birth weight have been essentially ignored. Economists have analyzed the negative effects that low birth weight might have on subsequent school outcomes, while taking into ...

Birth weight and school performance

open access: yesEconomics & Human Biology
This study investigates the long-term association between birth weight and school performance in Norway, with a focus on how this relationship has evolved alongside demographic changes. We contribute to the literature by examining this link in a contemporary context using nearly two decades of administrative data.

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...
