When two streams of pedestrians cross at an angle, striped patterns spontaneously emerge as a result of local pedestrian interactions. This clear case of self-organized pattern formation remains to be elucidated. In counterflows, with a crossing angle of

On Bisectors in Quaternionic Hyperbolic Space
In this paper, we study a problem related to geometry of bisectors in quaternionic hyperbolic geometry. We develop some of the basic theory of bisectors in quaternionic hyperbolic space $H^n_Q$. In particular, we show that quaternionic bisectors enjoy various decompositions by totally geodesic submanifolds of $H^n_Q$.

equateIRT: An R Package for IRT Test Equating
The R package equateIRT implements item response theory (IRT) methods for equating different forms composed of dichotomous items. In particular, the IRT models included are the three-parameter logistic model, the two-parameter logistic model, the one ...

A new method for global optimization [PDF]
This paper presents a new method for global optimization. We use exact quadratic regularization for the transformation of the multimodal problems to a problem of a maximum norm vector on a convex set.

On Bisectors for Convex Distance Functions [PDF]
It is well known that the construction of Voronoi diagrams is based on the notion of \emph{bisector} of two given oints. Already in nor med linear spaces, bisectors have a complicated structure and can, for many classes of norms, only be described with the help of topological methods.

On the insolubility of one drawing problem II
It is shown in the article that, in general, it is not possible to draw a triangle using a compass and a straightedge given an angle and a bisector and a median drawn from the vertices of another different angles.
