5-Gbit/s BER performance on an all fiber-optic add/drop device based on a taper-resonator-taper structure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
We present an all fiber-optic add/drop device based on a taper-resonator-taper structure with improved characteristics. Several gigahertz bandwidths are observed using microspheres having diameters ranging from 30 to 50 μm.

Fast bootstrap and reliable readout using hidden references for DNA data storage

open access: yesiMeta, EarlyView.
This study provides a bootstrap readout framework for DNA data storage based on multiple‐fold hidden references. We employ a multi‐stage alignment and error correction strategy, transforming the de novo readout into a resequencing‐like workflow. Correlation to the hidden watermark reference identifies low‐error‐rate reads, and bit‐wise consensus ...

Performance of Adaptive Bit-Interleaved Polar Coded Modulation in FSOC System

open access: yesPhotonics, 2023
This paper proposes an adaptive bit-interleaved polar coded modulation (A-BIPCM) method based on minimum logarithmic upper bound weight (MLUW). It is designed to reduce the fading effects and long string of bit error interference caused by atmospheric ...

Improved Transmitter Jitter Modeling for Accurate Bit Error Rate (BER) Eye Contours Using Transient Simulation of Short Bit Patterns

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Electromagnetic Compatibility, 2018
Increase in the signaling speeds has led to decrease in jitter budget available for the channel to pass the product specifications. The current serial link specifications are based on a bit-error-rate (BER) metric and hence there is a need to account for jitter statistically.

Noncanonical Nucleotides in the Genome Around the Maternal‐Zygotic Transition

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Zoology Part B: Molecular and Developmental Evolution, EarlyView.
In this paper, Kazzazi et al. provide a comprehensive review of the dynamics of nonconventional nucleotides in the genome during early developmental stages, hypothesizing a potential role for these nucleotides in the activation of the zygotic genome. ABSTRACT From the very moment of fertilization and throughout development, the cells of animal embryos ...

Performance Analysis by Improving Bit Error Rate (BER) through various Diversity Techniques in Wireless Communication

open access: yesInternational Journal of Computer Applications, 2014
In wireless communication systems antenna diversity is an important technique to combat deep fading to improve the system performance and to increase the channel capacity. The fast and random fluctuation of the received signal strength is usually called fading.

Highly Versatile Real‐Time Optical Noise Filtering Through Temporal Cloaking

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
Conventional bandpass filtering strategies may be insufficient for recovering optical waveforms under extremely noisy conditions. We demonstrate a temporal‐cloaking denoising strategy enabled by the temporal Talbot effect, which concentrates the coherent signal of interest into short temporal slots while broadband noise remains temporally spread.
