In vitro flowering of bitter melon
Plant Cell Reports, 2001Flowers were formed from shoot tips of bitter melon (Momordica charantia L.) cultured on Murashige and Skoog medium supplemented with 90 mM sucrose, 0.05 mM Fe2+ and 4 µM N6-benzyladenine (BA). Using Bitter Melon to Treat Diabetes
Alternative and Complementary Therapies, 2005Bitter melon (Momordica charantia) has a long history of use as a food and as a hypoglycemic agent. This article reviews scientific evidence of its efficacy for treating diabetes mellitus and reviews studies on this plant's effects on pregnancy and fertility, and use as an abortifacient, an understanding of which is important to bitter melon's safe use.
