Abstract Institutional repositories (IRs) are essential in advancing Open Access and facilitating the dissemination of scholarly work. This systematic review examines the challenges faced by IRs in areas such as strategic alignment, content acquisition, funding, staffing, quality assurance, and technology.

Brickwall in rotating BTZ: a dip-ramp-plateau story
In this article, building on our recent investigations and motivated by the fuzzball-paradigm, we explore normal modes of a probe massless scalar field in the rotating BTZ-geometry in an asymptotically AdS spacetime and correspondingly obtain the ...

The String Landscape, Black Holes and Gravity as the Weakest Force
We conjecture a general upper bound on the strength of gravity relative to gauge forces in quantum gravity. This implies, in particular, that in a four-dimensional theory with gravity and a U(1) gauge field with gauge coupling g, there is a new ...

The Origin of Black Hole Entropy in String Theory [PDF]
I review some recent work in which the quantum states of string theory which are associated with certain black holes have been identified and counted. For large black holes, the number of states turns out to be precisely the exponential of the Bekenstein-

Black Hole Entropy in String Theory [PDF]
In the first part of the thesis we examine the entropy of black strings in compactifications of F-theory on an elliptically fibered Calabi-Yau threefold or of type IIB string theory on K3. The black strings arise as D3-branes wrapped on a curve in either the base of the Calabi-Yau threefold or in K3 and when compactified on an additional circle, they ...

Machine Learning Unlocks New Directions in Halide Perovskite Research
GA: This frontispiece visualizes the role of machine learning (ML) in advancing halide perovskite research. It highlights how ML enables the prediction of material properties, guides compositional design, and supports the development of stable, high‐performance perovskite devices for optoelectronic applications, providing new strategies to overcome ...

This thesis is devoted to trying to find a microscopic quantum description of black holes. We consider black holes in string theory which is a quantum theory of gravity. We find that the ``area law'' black hole entropy for extremal and near-extremal charged black holes arises from counting microscopic configurations.

Abstract The propagation of a massive scalar field and a massless Dirac field in the geometry of a dilaton–de Sitter black hole is investigated. Starting from the covariant perturbation equations, the corresponding effective potentials are presented and their dependence on the dilaton charge, field mass, and cosmological constant is analyzed. Using the

Stringy information and black holes
We show that in string theory, due to non-perturbative effects, there are cases in which two states that semi-classically are completely different, are in fact the same.
