Research on Multi-Machine Pre-Synchronization Control and Optimization Based on Parallel Recovery Black Start

open access: yesEnergies
With the increasing prevalence of renewable energy, microgrids play a crucial role in enhancing distributed energy efficiency and system flexibility. However, the intermittent and unpredictable nature of renewable energy generation presents significant ...

Quasars and their host galaxies

open access: yes, 2006
This review attempts to describe developments in the fields of quasar and quasar host galaxies in the past five. In this time period, the Sloan and 2dF quasar surveys have added several tens of thousands of quasars, with Sloan quasars being found to z>6.

Non-threshold D-brane bound states and black holes with non-zero entropy [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
We start with BPS-saturated configurations of two (orthogonally) intersecting M-branes and use the electro-magnetic duality or dimensional reduction along a boost, in order to obtain new p-brane bound states.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

A new dissipation term for finite-difference simulations in Relativity

open access: yes, 2007
We present a new numerical dissipation algorithm, which can be efficiently used in combination with centered finite-difference methods. We start from a formulation of centered finite-volume methods for Numerical Relativity, in which third-order space ...

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Thermodynamics of Black Hole in (N+3)-dimensions from Euclidean N-brane Theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
In this article we consider an N-brane description of an (N+3)-dimensional black hole horizon. First of all, we start by reviewing a previous work where a string theory is used as describing the dynamics of the event horizon of a four dimensional black ...

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Women’s Employment During the Recovery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
[Excerpt] In 2010, women represented 46.7 percent of the United States labor force, a slightly larger share than at the start of the recession in 2007. Overall 71.9 million women were employed or looking for work, representing 58.6 percent of all women ...
