A multi-stage genome-wide association study of bladder cancer identifies multiple susceptibility loci [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We conducted a multi-stage, genome-wide association study of bladder cancer with a primary scan of 591,637 SNPs in 3,532 affected individuals (cases) and 5,120 controls of European descent from five studies followed by a replication strategy, which ...

UCtracker: A Deep Learning–Based DNA Methylation Model for Noninvasive Diagnosis and Recurrence Surveillance of Urothelial Carcinoma in a Prospective Study

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We developed UCtracker, a urine DNA methylation–based deep learning model, for noninvasive diagnosis and postoperative surveillance of urothelial carcinoma. UCtracker demonstrates high diagnostic accuracy, robustness at ultralow sequencing depth, early recurrence detection, and dynamic risk‐stratified monitoring of molecular residual disease ...

Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor of the bladder in an adolescent: Case report

open access: yesUrology Case Reports
Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumors of the bladder (IMTB) are rare neoplasms that can occur in children. These tumors have uncertain malignant potential and can present similarly to bladder sarcomas.

Role of Re-Resection in Non–Muscle-Invasive Bladder Cancer

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2011
Restaging, or second transurethral resection (TUR), is essential to successful management of high-risk, non–muscle-invasive bladder cancer. Here we review the relevant literature documenting the role of restaging TUR.

O‐GlcNAcylation Regulation of SNAP29‐Dependent Autophagy Activation Dictates Chemoresistance in Gastric Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Model illustrating the proposed mechanism by which chemotherapy‐induced downregulation of OGT disrupts SNAP29 O‐GlcNAcylation, promoting STX17‐SNAP29‐VAMP8 SNARE complex assembly and protective autophagy, leading to chemoresistance, which in turn establishes a feedforward loop to perpetuate drug tolerance.

Pasta, a Versatile Transcriptomic Clock, Maps the Chemical and Genetic Determinants of Aging and Rejuvenation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Pasta is a transcriptomic aging clock built on an age‐shift learning framework and trained on 17 000 samples across 21 datasets. It accurately predicts relative biological age across tissues, platforms, and species, captures stemness‐to‐senescence transitions, and identifies age‐modulatory perturbations.

Therapeutic efficacy and short-term durability of trans-urethral amniotic bladder injections for the treatment of refractory COVID-associated cystitis

open access: yes
INTRODUCTION: COVID-19-associated cystitis (CAC) may arise following a COVID-19 infection and is characterized by the development of novel or worsening overactive bladder (OAB).

Engineering a 660 nm‐Responsive Optogenetic Inducer of Pyroptosis for Precision Cancer Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reports a bioorthogonal pyroptosis inducer, PyroRACS. By using a red‐light‐responsive Cre‐On genetic switch to control the expression of highly cytotoxic GSDMDNT, PyroRACS enables the artificial induction of pyroptosis with precise spatiotemporal control.

Effects of curcumin in an orthotopic murine bladder tumor model

open access: yesInternational Brazilian Journal of Urology, 2009
Cigarette smoking (CS) is the main risk factor for bladder cancer development. There are more than 100 carcinogens present in cigarette smoke. Among the potential mediators of CS-induced alterations is nuclear factor-kappa (NF-κB), which is ...
