Blast Load Variability and Accuracy of Blast Load Prediction Models

open access: yesInternational Journal of Protective Structures, 2010
A statistical analysis of explosive blast loading field (test) data has revealed a high level of variability of peak reflected pressure, impulse and time of positive phase duration for repeatable tests where variability would be expected to be a minimum. The model error (accuracy) of a widely used predictive blast load model is also assessed.

Blast loaded plates

Marine Structures, 2009
Plates form one of the basic elements of structures. Land-based structures may be subjected to air blast loads during combat environment or terrorist attack, while marine structures may be subjected to either air blast by the attack of a missile above the water surface or an underwater explosion by the attack of a torpedo or a mine or a depth charge ...

Blast Load Effects on Highway Bridges. I: Modeling and Blast Load Effects

Journal of Bridge Engineering, 2014
AbstractNumerous terrorist events during the last decade, including the 2001 attack on the World Trade Center, have heightened concern about the safety of bridges during intentional/unintentional blast load effects. Analysis of highway bridges under blast loads requires accurate generation and application of blast loads and good understanding of the ...

Precoding and loading for BLAST-like systems

IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2003. ICC '03., 2004
In this contribution we study transmission over MIMO channels, where channel state information available at the transmitter enables the use of precoding as weak as an optimization of rate and power distribution over the parallel subchannels in the transmission system (loading).

Investigation of Head Response to Blast Loading

Journal of Trauma: Injury, Infection & Critical Care, 2011
Head injury resulting from blast loading, specifically mild traumatic brain injury, has been identified as a possible and important blast-related injury for soldiers in modern conflict zones. A study was undertaken to evaluate head response to blast loading scenarios using an explicit finite element numerical model and to comment on the potential for ...
