Genetic and Molecular Analyses of Blast Resistance in a Universal Blast Resistant Variety, Digu

2009
Digu, an indica rice variety, is an important genetic resource for its universal resistance to rice blast disease in China, from which, three new resistant (R) genes, Pi-d(t)1, Pi-d2, and Pi-d3, have been identified by genetic and molecular assays. Among them, the broad spectrum R genes, Pi-d2 and Pi-d3 have been cloned.

Fibers for Blast Resistance

PCI Journal, 2007
Concrete is handicapped in dynamic applications by its brittle nature. Some structural engineers realize the potential in using fibers for blast resistance, but fiber reinforcement is a specialized technology and attempts at adopting fibers have not achieved widespread success in this application.

Blast-Resistant Design of Structures

Practice Periodical on Structural Design and Construction, 2014
AbstractThe strategy for dealing with the blast-induced threats against a structure requires attention from planning and design stages, as introducing or altering various blast response mitigation strategies becomes either difficult or impossible later on.

Blast-Resistant Window Concepts

Problems Involving Thermal Hydraulics, Liquid Sloshing, and Extreme Loads on Structures, 2003
Terrorist bombs threaten American civilians and military personnel both at home and abroad. Analysis of data from previous terror attacks indicates the largest number of injuries result from projected glass shards from shattered windows and facades. Three key issues have led to increased interest in new window materials, as well as changes in building ...

A Review on Blast Resistant Structures

2018
The main aim of this study is to review the work already done till now on the effect of blast loading on structures. Nowadays, there are various terrorist activities in the world and therefore for the security the structure should be design as a blast proof. But this is uneconomical in middle society point of view.

Design of Blast Resistant Buildings

2021
The design of blast resistant buildings is required for safety of operations and humans in petroleum refineries. These refineries require blast resistant buildings for the operations near the possible ground zero of the explosive unit. This chapter explains the design for blast resistant building in petroleum refinery in Mumbai, India.

Blast-Resistant Glazing Design

Journal of Architectural Engineering, 2006
When blasts occur in urban areas, many injuries and sometimes deaths result when glass shards fly from windows fractured by airblast pressure. The use of blast-resistant glazing can mitigate the number and severity of glass-related injuries if blasts occur. In this paper, the writers present two methods to facilitate blast-resistant glazing design. One
