Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Burden movement in confined drift wall blasting tests studied at the LKAB Kiruna SLC mine

open access: yes, 2012
Blasting in SLC (sublevel caving) takes place in a semi-confined situation. Blasted material swells while the caved material compacts, and also, to a lesser extent, fills parts of the void volume of the production drift.

BLAST-QC: automated analysis of BLAST results [PDF]

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiome, 2020
AbstractBackgroundThe Basic Local Alignment Search Tool (BLAST) from NCBI is the preferred utility for sequence alignment and identification for bioinformatics and genomics research. Among researchers using NCBI’s BLAST software, it is well known that analyzing the results of a large BLAST search can be tedious and time-consuming. Furthermore, with the

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Energy Generation and Attenuation of Blast-Induced Seismic Waves under In Situ Stress Conditions

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
During blasting in deep mining and excavation, the rock masses usually suffer from high in situ stress. The initial seismic energy generated in deep rock blasting and its attenuation with distance is first theoretically analyzed in this study.

Differential expression of cancer‐related genes supports prediction of poor response to first‐line treatments in T‐ALL pediatric patients with high minimal residual disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...

Experimental study on seismic behavior of severely damaged RACFST T-shaped edge joints after CFRP reinforcement

open access: yesAin Shams Engineering Journal
The seismic retrofit of severely damaged composite joints is crucial for structural resilience and post-earthquake recovery. This study investigates the seismic performance of severely damaged recycled aggregate concrete-filled steel tubular (RACFST) T ...

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Optimized CO2 snow blasting systems. Modification of CO2 snow blasting systems to increase blasting performance

open access: yes, 2022
S.405-409CO2 snow blasting as a cleaning method is well suited for automated applications. Advantageously, the machining is free of residues of the blasting agent, the low blasting performance being its main disadvantage.
