Pharmacological inhibition of the PERK pathway modulates hepatocellular carcinoma growth and immune signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

From energy provision to protein synthesis: Tunnelling nanotubes as mediators of intercellular metabolic cooperation in cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The cytoskeleton‐mediated transport of mitochondria via tunnelling nanotubes restores respiration, increases ATP production, rescues cells from apoptosis, activates the AKT/mTOR signalling pathway, promotes cell migration and invasiveness, contributes to cancer progression and treatment resistance.

Blast Injury [PDF]

open access: yesMilitary Medicine, 2011
Explosions can cause devastating injuries by various wounding mechanisms. Injuries due to the primary pressure wave are rarely life threatening and those that are lethal are uncommon. We reviewed the pathophysiology of blast-related injuries and their implications for management.

Effect of terahertz irradiation on DNA damage repair in living cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We investigated the effect of terahertz (THz) wave irradiation on DNA double‐strand break (DSB) repair in living cells. We found that THz irradiation enhanced DSB repair at specific frequencies, whereas heat treatment inhibited it, indicating that this effect is nonthermal and frequency‐specific.

Evaluation and determination of sensitivity and electromagnetic interactions of commercial blasting caps. [PDF]

open access: yes
"Six different types of blasting caps, mainly of the type used in coal mines, were evaluated to determine both their radio frequency and direct current characteristics. Two of the caps were of foreign manufacture.

Time-frequency analyses of blasting vibration signals in single-hole blasting model experiments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
With common horseshoe cavern in underground engineering as the prototype, three single-hole blasting model experiments have been carried out. And coupled SPH-FEM approach is adopted for analyzing the limit effect of pre-excavated horseshoe cavern on ...

Dynamic behavior of an adjacent tunnel under blasting and collapse impact loads: a case study of high-rise building blasting demolition

open access: yesAin Shams Engineering Journal
Blasting demolition is widely used for removing high-rise buildings due to its safety and efficiency, but induced vibrations and collapse impacts can damage nearby structures.
