Extracellular enzymes of Blastomyces dermatitidis
Mycopathologia et Mycologia Applicata, 1969Blastomyces dermatitidis was investigated for the presence of several extracellular enzymes. This pathogenic fungus was found to produce acid- and alkaline-phosphatases in both liquid and solid media when growing in the yeast phase (37° C), but little or none of these activities was associated with the mycelial phase (25° C). Under the growth and assay

Blastomyces dermatitidis Meningoencephalitis in a Dog
Pathologia veterinaria, 1969Blastomycotic meningoencephalitis in a dog was characterized by granulomas, which occurred most frequently in the gray matter of the cerebrum and the granular layer of the cerebellum, and often centered around vessels. Numerous B. dermatitidis organisms were in the granulomas and leptomeninges.

Blastomyces dermatitidis peritonitis complicating peritoneal dialysis
Seminars in Dialysis, 2017AbstractFungal peritonitis is an uncommon complication in peritoneal dialysis patients. We report a case of blastomyces dermatitis peritonitis in a nonimmunocompromised peritoneal dialysis patient, who initially presented with symptoms of lower extremity weakness and altered mental status.

Polysaccharides of Blastomyces Dermatitidis
The Journal of Immunology, 1940Summary and Conclusions Chemical analysis of Blastomyces dermatitidis indicates that this fungus contains at least two distinct polysaccharides. Minute quantities of these polysaccharides fix complement with sera prepared by immunizing rabbits with whole Blastomyces dermatitidis.

Splenic Abscess Caused by Blastomyces dermatitidis
Southern Medical Journal, 1986We have reported a case of fungal splenic abscess caused by Blastomyces dermatitidis. Splenic abscess is an uncommon disorder, and fungus as the causative organism is rare. The diagnosis of splenic abscess can be rapidly made with radionuclide and CT scanning and ultrasonography.

A case of solitary Blastomyces dermatitidis meningitis
Clinical Neurology and Neurosurgery, 2011We present a case of a 35 year-old male with Blastomyces dermatitidis meningitis as the primary presentation of blastomycosis infection, without evidence of involvement outside the CNS at time of discharge. We focus on the magnetic resonance imaging findings, with histopathologic correlation.

Antigens and chemical composition of Blastomyces dermatitidis
Mycopathologia, 1982‘Without these tools (skin-test and complement fixation antigens for epidemiological, diagnostic, and prognostic use) we are at least 50 years behind in our defining of the disease blastomycosis’ (63). This statement by Rippon et al. emphasizes the need for a well defined antigen or group of antigens from Blastomyces dermatitidis, not only for the two ...

Skeletal Muscle Abscess Caused by Blastomyces dermatitidis
The American Journal of the Medical Sciences, 2009Muscle involvement is an extremely rare manifestation of blastomycosis. We, therefore, report a case of a large gluteal muscle abscess caused by Blastomyces dermatitidis in a young, immunocompetent male. In addition, we review the literature to further characterize the syndrome of skeletal muscle blastomycosis.

Extrapulmonary Thoracic Disease Caused by Blastomyces dermatitidis
Chest, 1994A case of blastomycosis is reported involving the mediastinum and compromising the plexus brachialis. The pathology, pathophysiology, and treatment of this patient and of a previously reported patient are discussed and compared with the characteristics of extrapulmonary thoracic disease caused by histoplasmosis.
