Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

On Nearly Balanced Designs for Sensory Trials [PDF]
In sensory experiments, often designs are used that are balanced for carryover effects. It is hoped that this controls for possible carryover effects, like, e.g., a lingering taste of the products. Proper randomization is essential to guarantee the usual

Partially Balanced Incomplete Block Designs
In balanced incomplete block designs, each pair of treatments is compared with equal precision, and each treatment is paired with every other treatment an equal number of times with in a common block; A is a constant for all treatments.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Estimating the intercept in an orthogonally blocked experiment when the block effects are random. [PDF]
: For an orthogonally blocked experiment, Khuri (1992) has shown that the ordinary least squares estimator and the generalized least squares estimator of the factor effects in a response surface model with random block effects coincide.

In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Block designs for experiments with non-normal response
Many experiments measure a response that cannot be adequately described by a linear model withnormally distributed errors and are often run in blocks of homogeneous experimental units.

Decomposition tables for experiments I. A chain of randomizations
One aspect of evaluating the design for an experiment is the discovery of the relationships between subspaces of the data space. Initially we establish the notation and methods for evaluating an experiment with a single randomization.
