On Hierarchical Composite Endpoints in Pediatric Cancer Supportive Care: Illustrative Examples From Two Multi‐Center Phase‐III Randomized Clinical Trials

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Pediatric supportive care clinical trials often involve multiple clinically important outcomes, complicating trial interpretation. Hierarchical composite endpoints (HCEs) provide a framework to integrate key outcomes according to clinical importance.

Improved CRC aided BP decoding for polar codes

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2021
In this letter, a modified message passing algorithm to prevent short cycles in the factor graph is proposed and combined with a relaxation technique to improve the performance of cyclic redundancy check aided belief propagation decoding for polar codes.

Comparative Evaluation of Hemodiafiltration, Hemoperfusion, and Standard Hemodialysis on Efficacy, Inflammatory Control, Dialysis Adequacy, and Safety in End‐Stage Renal Disease: A Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic micro‐inflammation in patients with end‐stage renal disease (ESRD) is a significant driver of cardiovascular complications and diminished quality of life. While standard hemodialysis (SHD) effectively manages small‐molecule clearance, its ability to remove medium‐to‐large uremic toxins—the primary catalysts of systemic ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access With Sequence Block Compressed Sensing Multiuser Detection for 5G

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
Compressed sensing-based multiuser detection (CSMUD) is a promising candidate to enable grant-free non-orthogonal multiple access for massive machine-type communication in the fifth-generation (5G) wireless communication system.

Residual Block Error Rate Prediction for IR HARQ Protocol

open access: yesTehnički vjesnik, 2020
This paper provides a simple estimation of the Long Term Evolution (LTE) physical and Medium Access Control (MAC) layer peak transmission performance-the irreducible Block-Error-Rate (BLER) that determines the Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) residual channel available to higher-layer protocols.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

On the block error rate performance of cooperative non-orthogonal multiple access short-packet communications with full-duplex relay and partial relay selection

open access: yesETRI Journal
In this paper, we mathematically investigate a downlink non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) system for short-packet communications (SPC) in which the near users are used as full-duplex (FD) relays to forward intended signals from the source to a far ...

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Long-Block Differential Spatial Modulation

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
Spatial modulation (SM) can transmit additional data bits by selecting antennas and avoids synchronization and interferences among antennas. Differential SM (DSM) is a noncoherent technique of SM, but it is less bandwidth efficient than SM.
