Study of matrix micro-cracking in nano clay and acrylic tri-block-copolymer modified epoxy/basalt fiber-reinforced pressure-retaining structures

open access: yeseXPRESS Polymer Letters, 2011
In fiber-reinforced polymer pressure-retaining structures, such as pipes and vessels, micro-level failure commonly causes fluid permeation due to matrix cracking.

Long‐term culture of skin biopsies: maintenance of fibroblast production and competency of reprogramming

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Skin biopsies taken from a patient with an ultra‐rare disorder as well as controls were cultured for up to 473 days. The chunks of skin were serially transferred to a new culture plate when confluent with fibroblasts. Different generations of fibroblasts were analyzed for cell and molecular properties, proliferation, and competence for reprogramming to

An extension of the block spacial path approach to analysis of the influence of intra and interregional trade on multiplier effects in general interregional input-output models [PDF]

open access: yes
In a number of recent papers Sonis, Hewings and coworkers have extended spacial path analysis to a block structural context capable of analysing the relationship between direct blocks of influence, such as intra and interregional trade coefficients or ...

Calcium‐sensing receptor induces the apoptosis of chondrocytes in cooperation with phosphate transporter

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Excess Ca2+ ions activate the Calcium‐Sensing Receptor (CaSR), which subsequently drives the uptake of excess inorganic phosphate (Pi) via the Pi transporter (Pit−1) in chondrocytes. This mechanism causes a toxic increase in intracellular Pi concentration, ultimately leading to chondrocyte apoptosis and pathological mineralization. Excess extracellular

The maximum residual block Kaczmarz algorithm based on feature selection

open access: yesAIMS Mathematics
Based on the K-means method, an effective block-row partitions algorithm was proposed in [1], which involves partitioning the rows of the coefficient matrix $ A \in {\mathbb{R}^ {m \times n}} $.

Hands‐on protocol for preparing water‐soluble fractions from agri‐food samples for NMR‐based metabolomics analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This research protocol outlines a workflow for nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)‐based metabolomics in the agri‐food sector. Using two case studies—strawberry leaves (solid matrix) and wine (liquid matrix)—it details the procedures for sample preparation, data acquisition, and processing.

Down‐regulation of Shh in the hair follicles of mice during chemotherapy‐induced hair loss is mediated by the JAK/STAT1 signaling pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We found that during chemotherapy‐induced alopecia (CIA), Sonic hedgehog (Shh) expression significantly decreased in hair follicle Shh+ cells, whereas the Janus‐activated kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription 1 (JAK/STAT1) signaling pathway was markedly activated.

Block incomplete factorization preconditioners for a symmetric block-tridiagonal M-matrix

open access: yesJournal of Computational and Applied Mathematics, 1998
New block incomplete factorization preconditioners are introduced for a symmetric block-tridiagonal \(M\)-matrix. Parallel computations and the main properties including spectral properties of the method are analysed.
