On study of nonlinear viscoelastic behavior of red blood cell membrane [PDF]
The linear viscoelastic behavior of the red blood cell membrane of mammal and human was studied in previous works proposing different experimental methods to determine their viscoelastic parameters. In the present work the nonlinear component of dynamic viscosity of the red blood cell membrane by nonlinear time series analysis is used. For such aim, it

This study demonstrates that KRAS and GNAS mutations are more prevalent in patients with resected intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMN) compared to those under clinical surveillance. GNAS mutations significantly differ between the two patient cohorts, indicating that their absence may serve as a potential biomarker to support conservative ...

We quantified and cultured circulating tumor cells (CTCs) of 62 patients with various cancer types and generated CTC‐derived tumoroid models from two salivary gland cancer patients. Cellular liquid biopsy‐derived information enabled molecular genetic assessment of systemic disease heterogeneity and functional testing for therapy selection in both ...

On a Multiscale Analysis of a Micro-Model of Heat Transfer in Biological Tissues [PDF]
A bio-heat transfer model for biological tissues in a micro-scale and periodical settings is investigated . It is assumed that the model is a two-component system consisting of solid particles representing tissue cells and interconnected pores containing either arterial or venous blood. This tissue-blood system is described by two energy equations, one

The authors applied joint/mixed models that predict mortality of trifluridine/tipiracil‐treated metastatic colorectal cancer patients based on circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) trajectories. Patients at high risk of death could be spared aggressive therapy with the prospect of a higher quality of life in their remaining lifetime, whereas patients with a ...

ROLE OF T REGULATORY CELLS (Тreg) IN TRANSFUSION-ASSOCIATED IMMUNOMODULATION (REVIEW)
In this review article, we present current clinical data about the effects of transfused hemocomponents upon immune system of the recipients, and about transfusion-related immunomodulation, with emphasis on the role of T-regulatory (Treg) cells in these ...

Large fluctuations in multi-scale modeling for rest erythropoiesis [PDF]
Erythropoiesis is a mechanism for the production of red blood cells by cellular differentiation. It is based on amplification steps due to an interplay between renewal and differentiation in the successive cell compartments from stem cells to red blood cells.

Breast tumor samples scored for metabolic deregulation (M1 to M3) were given a hypoxia score (HS). The highest HS occurred in patients with strongest metabolic deregulation (M3), supporting tumor aggressiveness. HS correlated with the highest number of metabolic pathways in M1. This suggests hypoxia to be an early event in metabolic deregulation.
